Job Description:
Morris School District #54 is seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as Substitute Food Service Worker. In this vital role, you'll help ensure our students receive nutritious, high-quality meals by filling in for permanent staff members on an as-needed basis. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment and contributing to the well-being of students, we encourage you to apply
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environment is preferred, but not required. We'll train motivated candidates!
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to work effectively with students and staff
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to follow directions
  • Previous food service or cashier experience is helpful but not required
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to successfully complete a background check and meet all state and district requirements for school personnel.

Duties:
  • Overall cleaning of kitchen including, but not limited to mopping, sweeping and dishes
  • Meal Preparation: Assisting with the preparation, cooking, and assembly of student meals (breakfast and lunch)
  • Serving: Serving meals to students and staff in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Operating point-of-sale (POS) systems and accurately handling meal accounts.
  • Cleaning & Sanitation: Washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans; cleaning kitchen equipment, counters, and serving areas; and ensuring all work areas comply with health and sanitation standards.
  • Stocking: Receiving, dating, and storing food and supplies properly.
  • Rotate milk in milk coolers
  • Count milk before service and after service daily
  • Serve menu items during service
  • Ensure serving lines are kept clean and presentable between lunch periods
  • Breakdown and clean serving lines at the end of each day
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Food Service Director and/or Administration

Benefits and Compensation:
  • Position is considered temporary, as-needed basis
  • $15/hour
  • Hours: 11:15am-2:15pm (may vary)
  • Not eligible for benefits
