Job description

Tribalco is actively seeking an experienced and highly motivated Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Technician to join our team supporting the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The successful candidate will be experienced with programming radios, primarily Motorola subscriber units. This position requires an individual capable of working independently with little to no daily supervision to complete programming tasks as assigned by the program support team.

Key Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required:

  • Our ideal candidate must be knowledgeable in Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system and theory.
  • The priority objective for this position will be to perform LMR programming, file management, database entry and overall management/tracking of location programming information.
  • Main tasks/duties will be as follows:
    • Receive and Ship radio equipment as needed, to include labeling, packing, tracking, and inventory
    • Develop and/or revise radio programming files (Code Plugs) as directed
    • Create channel plans based on programming files to include frequency management
    • Programming file storge and management
    • Review of current and revised programming files per site locations
  • Experience with Motorola programming software (CPS), knowledge of other radio manufacturer software, i.e., Kenwood, Harris, Icom a plus
  • Experience with multiple protocols, i.e., Motorola Smartzone/Smartnet, conventional, trunking, analog, digital, Project 25, etc., other technologies, i.e., satellite, IP networking, microwave, etc. is a plus.
  • Perform channel plan reviews and audits for accuracy, revisions and site communication efficiencies.
  • Remain current with latest technologies and programming software through self-study and/or attending industry seminars/training courses.
  • Communicate with customers to understand and capture operation needs as they apply to local LMR communication systems. Communication will primarily be by phone and email or coordinated through a certified local subcontractor.
  • Provide comprehensive explanation, review and Q&A with customers for development and approval of all programming and channel plans.

  • Proficient with Motorola CPS software, MS 360 (all programs)
  • Ability to acquire DOD clearance
