JIRA DEVELOPERS & MIGRATION SPECIALIST
THE ROLE
The customer is seeking skilled and experienced Mid-Level Jira Developers and Migration Specialists to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role will be instrumental in the successful migration of our Atlassian Jira instances from a Data Center environment to the Atlassian Cloud (SaaS). The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Atlassian tools, cloud architecture, and proven experience in planning, executing, and managing similar migration projects. This position demands technical proficiency, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless transition.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Actively participate in the planning, execution, and management of the Jira and Confluence migration from Data Center to Atlassian Cloud.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive migration strategies and plans.
  • Execute data transfer, system configuration, and user setup within the Atlassian Cloud environment.
  • Address and resolve post-migration tasks, including adjustments to screens, schemas, and workflows.
  • Utilize Atlassian migration tools (e.g., Jira Cloud Migration Assistant, Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant) to facilitate efficient data transfer and system configuration.
  • Identify and proactively mitigate potential migration challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Apply a strong understanding of Jira architecture, migration methodologies, and cloud technologies throughout the migration process.
  • Leverage knowledge of Jira Cloud and Data Center environments, including their fundamental concepts, key differences, and their respective roles in migration.
  • (For Developer roles) Utilize development expertise, including Scriptrunner and other Jira ecosystem tools, to automate tasks and streamline processes.
  • (For Developer roles) Apply knowledge and experience with the Forge platform in Jira Cloud, potentially including app development work.
  • Collaborate effectively with various teams to ensure alignment and successful migration outcomes.
  • Contribute to the documentation of migration processes and best practices.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Solid understanding of Jira configuration and development principles, with experience in managing global and local configurations within migration projects.
  • 4-5 years of demonstrable experience migrating Jira from Data Center to Cloud environments.
  • 4-5 years of hands-on experience with data transfer, system configuration, and user setup in Atlassian environments, including post-migration fixes related to screens, schemas, and workflows.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Jira architecture, various migration strategies, and cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Atlassian migration tools (e.g., Jira Cloud Migration Assistant, Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant) for data transfer and system configuration, with awareness of common migration challenges and mitigation techniques.
  • Strong understanding of Jira Cloud and Data Center environments, their core concepts, differences, and their impact on migration strategies.
  • (For Developer roles) Experience with development tools within the Jira ecosystem, such as Scriptrunner, for automation purposes.
  • (For Developer roles) Knowledge and practical experience with the Forge platform in Jira Cloud, including app development.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelor's degree with 4-5 years of practical experience in Jira development or migration.

LOCATION:
  • Migration or Integration Experts:
    • 4 positions in India (Hyderabad preferred, remote from anywhere in India considered). 1 Position to work and support in US PST time zone.
    • 1 position in San Jose (preferred) or Austin, Texas. East Coast locations are not under consideration.
  • Developers:
    • 3 positions in India (Hyderabad preferred, remote from anywhere in India considered).
