Job description

Description

The Pre-Analytical Services Coordinator will provide support to pre-analytical services' teams, including but not limited to managing samples that need additional paperwork or go throughs special workflow processes, providing data entry and matching support on submittal paperwork during peak season and times of additional coverage needs. In addition, the role will be involved in reviewing sample process flow and identifying trends, and be involved in root cause opportunity and solution analysis.ย 


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Managing samples that go through a sample resolution process of needing additional paperwork, separate workflows or additional information for the sample to be processed.ย 
  • Document sample issues and provide data around repeat troublesome clients, sample types, operational issues, etc.
  • Collaboration with Account Managers, Lab Supervisors and inter-departmentally to process samples through the sample resolution process in a timely manner.
  • Support Special Operations team with entry/matching of Feeds and Soils during peak season and when additional coverage is needed.
  • Conduct trend and process workflow analysis to identify root causes and engage in solution development.ย 

Requirements

Education and Training:ย 

  • High School Diploma or GED

Knowledge and skills:

  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Advanced data entry skills and computer knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Knowledge of Midwest Labs internal systems and processes preferred
  • Ability to look at processes and workflows with fresh perspective

Experience:ย 

  • Previous Laboratory experience preferred
  • Data capture and interpretation experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in environmental sciences, with preference toward understanding water hold time regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (6 or more hours)
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the phone and in group setting
  • Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate reason, define problems and make valid judgement and decisions
