The Commercial Analyst's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Reporting

  • Daily, weekly and monthly tracking and reporting of historical and current volumes, gathering revenues, and processing margins.
  • Support all aspects of the business.
  • Profit margin review including the ability to drill down on every cost and revenue to determine the source detail. 
  • Coordinate and prepare weekly, monthly and long term volume forecasts and operating revenue estimates.
  • Update economic models to include the latest pricing and volume data.
  • Calculate processing plant residue gas available for sale and coordinate with scheduling and gas marketing several times per week.
  • Manage Shipper NGL nominations each month and balance as needed.

Budget & Forecasting

  • Prepare annual budgets coordinating input from commercial, operations and engineering. 
  • Prepare annual budget presentations.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and long term volume and operating revenue estimates.
  • Coordinate and model weekly, monthly and long term operating revenue estimates and report changes in expectations.

Analysis

  • Analyze and prepare monthly financial data for management.
  • Monitor and track financial performance, perform detailed variance analysis on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Prepare economic analysis for gathering projects (line loop, lower pressure, new well connect) based on cost and revenue to justify the projects.
  • Providing support for implementation of acquisitions, new projects and major contracts.
  • Participating in the long-term strategy for assets.
  • Interface with Revenue Accounting, Commercial, Operations and Auditing groups and serve as primary contact for accounting issues. 
  • Provide decision support on system utilization and optimization.

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelors degree is required.  A degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or other related discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in engineering, accounting, or marketing analysis is preferred.
  • Experience working in a midstream gathering and processing environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Hyperion Planning and Essbase is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, specifically MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is required.
  • Work experience demonstrating strong analytical and interpersonal skills is important.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast pace team environment.
  • Superior written and presentation skills, including the ability to prepare concise, informative, and convincing presentations and position papers on complex commercial topics is very important.
  • Working knowledge of Excel modeling to forecast supply/demand trends is required.
  • Ability to analyze data and present findings is required.
  • Experience in evaluation and analysis is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and demonstrate a common sense approach to problem solving.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with internal and external customers at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and effective time management skills to develop knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill job responsibilities in an independent and thorough manner.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% domestically is required.
