Midstream Operator information

What are some common challenges faced by Midstream Operators and how can they be addressed?

Midstream Operators often encounter challenges such as maintaining pipeline integrity, responding quickly to equipment malfunctions, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Addressing these requires strong attention to detail, effective communication with team members, and ongoing training in best practices. Proactively monitoring systems and participating in regular maintenance schedules can help minimize downtime and enhance operational safety.

What are midstream operators?

Midstream operators are professionals responsible for the transportation, storage, and sometimes processing of oil, natural gas, and other petroleum products between extraction (upstream) and final delivery or refining (downstream). Their work typically involves operating and maintaining pipelines, compressor stations, storage facilities, and related infrastructure. Midstream operators ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of energy resources, monitor equipment, detect leaks, and respond to operational issues. They play a vital role in maintaining the energy supply chain and adhering to strict safety and environmental regulations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Midstream Operator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Midstream Operator, you need a solid understanding of pipeline operations, safety protocols, and mechanical systems, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant technical training. Familiarity with SCADA systems, pump controls, and industry certifications such as OSHA or HAZMAT is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for monitoring operations and responding to incidents. These skills and qualifications are essential to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant transport of oil and gas products through midstream infrastructure.

What is the difference between Midstream Operator vs Pipeline Technician?

While Midstream Operators oversee the broader transportation and storage processes, Pipeline Technicians focus specifically on maintaining and repairing pipelines. Both roles are essential for safe and efficient energy transportation.

Job description

Senior SAP Application Analyst - Production Revenue Accounting & Division Order
Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid/Remote considered with travel for go-live and key project milestones)
Type: Full-Time - Direct Hire
About the Company
We are a forward-looking, growth-driven energy solutions company operating across natural gas production, midstream, power generation, and carbon capture. Guided by the values of Promise. Deliver. Repeat., we are relentless in pursuing operational excellence and building high-performing teams that drive long-term sustainable value. We believe profitability and sustainability go hand in hand - and we're proving it every day.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior SAP Application Analyst specializing in Production Revenue Accounting (PRA) and Division Order (DO) to join our team during an exciting SAP S/4HANA implementation. This is a critical, high-visibility role that sits at the intersection of technology and business - you'll serve as the go-to expert and liaison between upstream business stakeholders and IT, ensuring our SAP solutions are configured, supported, and optimized to drive operational success.
This is a techno-functional role: you'll need strong hands-on SAP configuration and technical support skills and the business acumen to gather requirements, document solutions, and guide stakeholders through change. If you're a "unicorn" who thrives in lean, fast-moving environments and loves owning your domain end-to-end, this role was built for you.
What You'll Do
  • Configure, support, and enhance SAP Division Order and PRA modules throughout the S/4HANA implementation and post-go-live
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for SAP revenue and division order solutions, aligning system capabilities with business objectives and upstream industry best practices
  • Partner with stakeholders across Production, Land/Division Order, and Revenue Accounting to understand processes, gather requirements, and design solutions
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications and configuration documentation
  • Support integrations with third-party upstream applications (e.g., field data capture, land systems)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues; coordinate root cause analysis and work with technical teams on fixes
  • Lead and support testing activities - unit, integration, and UAT
  • Develop training materials and support end-user training and change management efforts
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and regulatory standards
  • Support reporting, analytics, and data governance initiatives tied to upstream operations
  • Identify and drive opportunities to streamline business processes and improve system performance
  • Collaborate across cross-functional IT teams and external implementation partners

What You Bring
Required
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or SAP Application Analyst with hands-on support of DO and PRA modules
  • Strong understanding of upstream oil & gas Revenue and Division Order business processes and terminology
  • Upstream energy industry experience required; natural gas experience preferred
  • Experience gathering requirements, writing functional specifications, and configuring SAP solutions
  • Proficiency in SQL, scripting, and data analysis
  • Familiarity with integration tools and APIs
  • Experience with change management and system lifecycle methodologies
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Engineering, Accounting, or a related field

Nice to Have
  • Texas-specific upstream experience
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations
  • Familiarity with Workday or ERP transition environments

Location & Travel
This position is based out of Denver, CO. Hybrid and remote arrangements will be considered for the right candidate. Some travel is required - approximately 5% in steady state, with higher frequency expected during the implementation and go-live phases.
Why Join Us
  • High-impact role on a greenfield SAP S/4HANA implementation with a lean, collaborative team
  • Work at a company that's shaping the future of clean, responsible energy
  • Competitive compensation and a values-driven culture built on integrity, accountability, and growth

Salary Range: $134,000 - $262,000
We are an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and base all employment decisions on qualifications, merit, and business need.
