Job description

House Manager - Nursing Systems - contingent - Midnight shift
Shift: Midnights - contingent role covering midnights or weekend day shifts
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Nursing Leadership (can be defined as Director/Manager of the Clinical Resource Center/ Clinical Resource Office/ Nursing Office based on business unit), the House Manager provides supervision, leadership and administrative guidance to patient care units by making rounds on their assigned shift. Responsible for adequately staffing the Nursing Department, recognizing the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness while providing high quality of service. Administratively accountable for leading, managing, developing, supervising, and evaluating assigned staff. Responsible for monitoring and evaluating work performance for professional and support staff including hiring and disciplinary actions for staff assigned with the Clinical Resource Center/ Clinical Resource Office/ Nursing Office. Functions as administrative and leadership coverage for all inpatient department areas in the absence of unit leadership.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or completion of other formal nursing education necessary to obtain/maintain an advanced practice nursing MI license (mid-wife, CRNA, CNS, or Nurse Practitioner) is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience of more responsible leadership experience in a clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of quality management and service excellence.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to develop and maintain a wide variety of cooperative working relationships, provide instruction to associates and convey information clearly and consistently through excellent written and verbal communication mediums.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that provides coaching and facilitation expertise.
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking skills and analytical skills necessary to identify problems and develop recommendations; review, interpret and validate data and assess processes.
  • Clinical knowledge to evaluate level of patient care needed for assigned area.
  • Demonstrates innovative, creative leadership style.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
  • Current license to practice in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
  • ACLS/ BLS certification.
  • NIH certification preferred.
