JOB Summary:

The Senior Gift Officer at The Midnight Mission is a key member of the Advancement team responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with major donors. This role focuses on developing strategies to secure significant funding from high-net-worth individuals, identifying and fostering new donor relationships, and ensuring ongoing engagement and stewardship of existing major donors.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Gift Officer plays a critical role in advancing The Midnight Mission's fundraising efforts, requiring a dynamic and driven individual with a passion for building lasting donor relationships and achieving ambitious fundraising goals.

  • Major Donor Management:
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to engage and solicit major donors, ensuring personalized approaches that align with their interests and The Midnight Mission's needs.
    • Manage a portfolio of major donors ($5K+), ensuring regular communication and personalized stewardship to maintain and grow their support.
  • Cultivation and Relationship Building:
    • Identify and cultivate relationships with prospective major donors through networking, research, and targeted outreach.
    • Organize and lead donor meetings, salon events, and site visits to deepen engagement and showcase the impact of their contributions.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Advancement to develop tailored proposals and presentations for major donor prospects.
  • New Donor Acquisition:
    • Proactively seek out and develop new major donor relationships to expand the donor base and increase funding opportunities.
    • Utilize various channels, including events, campaigns, and personal networks, to identify potential major donors.
    • Identify and cultivate prospective legacy donors, initiating conversations about planned giving opportunities, designing outreach newsletters and other materials, and working with leadership to strengthen The Midnight Mission's long-term sustainability.
  • Fundraising Goals:
    • Achieve specific fundraising targets set in collaboration with the Director of Advancement, contributing significantly to the overall fundraising goals of The Midnight Mission.
    • Track and report on progress towards individual and team fundraising goals, adjusting strategies as needed to ensure success.
  • Stewardship and Reporting:
    • Ensure that major donors receive regular updates on the impact of their gifts, including detailed reports and personalized communications.
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive records of donor interactions and contributions within the organization's database.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
    • Work closely with the Advancement team, program staff, and senior leadership to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and programmatic needs.
    • Participate in planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns, providing expertise on major donor engagement.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in major gift fundraising or a related area, with a proven track record of securing significant gifts from high-net-worth individuals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and inspire major donors.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using donor management software and databases.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of The Midnight Mission.
