What is a Midjourney job?

A Midjourney job typically refers to roles related to using or managing Midjourney, an AI-based image generation tool. These jobs may involve creating AI-generated visuals, fine-tuning prompts, or integrating AI art into design projects. Professionals in this field often work in digital art, marketing, or content creation, leveraging Midjourney for creative or commercial purposes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Midjourney prompt engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Midjourney Prompt Engineer, you need a solid understanding of digital art fundamentals, creative writing skills, and familiarity with AI-generated image workflows. Proficiency in using the Midjourney platform, prompt engineering techniques, and basic image editing software like Photoshop is typically required. Strong communication, creativity, and attention to detail help craft effective prompts and interpret client feedback. These skills ensure high-quality, visually compelling outputs that meet specific client or project needs in a rapidly evolving creative field.

How does a Midjourney prompt engineer typically collaborate with designers and marketers to create effective AI-generated imagery?

As a Midjourney prompt engineer, you’ll frequently work closely with designers and marketing teams to understand their creative vision and project goals. This collaboration involves translating abstract ideas or brand guidelines into precise, effective prompts that guide the Midjourney AI to generate suitable images. Regular feedback loops, brainstorming sessions, and image reviews are common, ensuring the outputs align with aesthetic and strategic needs. Successful prompt engineers are proactive communicators who can bridge the gap between technical AI capabilities and creative requirements, resulting in impactful visual content.

Job description

About the job

Midjourney is an independent research lab exploring new mediums of thought and expanding the imaginative powers of the human species. We are a small, self-funded team focused on design, human infrastructure, and AI.

Most of the products we build don’t have obvious precedents. We need product managers who can help teams navigate that uncertainty, make decisions, and turn ambitious ideas into products people can actually use.

We’re looking for a Product Manager to help lead that effort.

You’ll work closely with design, engineering, and research throughout the product development process, using tools like Claude Code to prototype concepts. You’ll help teams stay organized, make thoughtful decisions, and move projects from early ideation to launch.

This is a hands‑on role. Some days you’ll be writing product specs, running standups, and coordinating launches. Other days you’ll be interviewing users, reviewing prototypes, or digging into product questions that need deeper investigation. If you enjoy bringing structure to creative work and making it easier for great teams to do their best work, you’ll probably enjoy it here.

What you’ll do
  • Own the execution of major product initiatives.

  • Partner closely with design and engineering from early exploration through launch.

  • Write product requirements, manage backlogs, and keep projects moving.

  • Facilitate planning, standups, reviews, and comms between teams.

  • Help teams make informed decisions through UXR, research, and using Midjourney deeply yourself.

  • Go deep on important product questions when needed, whether that means conducting user research, designing experiments, or working through a difficult product tradeoff.

  • Help teams decide what matters most and make smart choices about quality, scope, and speed.

You might be a fit if
  • You’ve spent the last several years building software people love to use.

  • You know how to create structure without weighing a team down.

  • You’re as comfortable writing a product spec as you are talking to users or reviewing a prototype.

  • You have a point of view, but care more about getting the product right than being right.

  • Using Claude Code and Cursor are part of your workflow.

  • You’re excited to build products that don’t come with established playbooks.

  • Work > ego

Logistics
  • Full-time. SF Hybrid.

  • Compensation: $185,000-225,000 + benefits.
