About the Role

NinjaOne is looking for a highly technical and strategic Sr. Director, Business Systems Engineering to build the operating system that powers our business. This is not a traditional Business Operations or enterprise applications leadership role. We are looking for a deeply technical, engineering-minded leader and builder who can architect the internal platforms connecting NinjaOne’s critical business systems, data, workflows, and teams as we continue to scale globally. In this role, you will own the strategy, architecture, and evolution of the systems ecosystem that supports how NinjaOne operates. You will partner closely with executive and functional leadership to transform disconnected systems and manual processes into scalable, automated, and reliable solutions. You will set the technical direction for Business Systems Engineering, build the capabilities and team required to deliver it, and establish a foundation that enables NinjaOne to operate faster and more effectively as we grow. This is an opportunity to shape how NinjaOne operates at scale. You will think beyond individual systems and point solutions, using engineering, automation, data, and emerging technologies to solve complex business problems and build platforms designed to grow with the company.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Define and lead NinjaOne’s enterprise business systems strategy, architecture, and technical roadmap, aligning priorities and investments to company objectives and long-term growth
  • Architect an integrated technology ecosystem across CRM, ERP, HRIS, recruiting, finance, business intelligence, product, identity, and internal tooling
  • Establish engineering standards, governance, security, controls, and clear ownership for how business-critical platforms integrate, exchange data, and evolve
  • Design scalable and resilient integrations using APIs, webhooks, event-driven architectures, middleware, and custom services
  • Build a trusted business data foundation that connects operational data across systems and enables consistent reporting, analytics, and executive decision-making
  • Reimagine complex business processes through automation, AI, and emerging technologies, eliminating manual work and improving the speed, quality, and scalability of how teams operate
  • Partner with executive and functional leaders across Finance, Sales, Customer Success, Product, People, Talent Acquisition, Engineering, and other functions to translate company priorities into scalable technical capabilities
  • Evaluate NinjaOne’s technology ecosystem and make strategic decisions about where to build, buy, integrate, consolidate, or retire capabilities
  • Define and measure the impact of Business Systems Engineering across system reliability, data quality, automation, operational efficiency, scalability, and business outcomes
  • Build and lead the Business Systems Engineering function, developing the technical talent, operating model, and capabilities required to support NinjaOne’s continued growth
  • Other duties as needed
      

About You

  • 12+ years of progressive experience across business systems engineering, enterprise applications, platform engineering, enterprise architecture, software engineering, or related technical disciplines
  • Significant leadership experience owning business-critical systems, enterprise architecture, and technical strategy within a high-growth or global organization
  • Deep technical and software engineering foundation with the ability to architect complex systems and engage at depth across APIs, integrations, data models, automation, and modern engineering patterns
  • Demonstrated experience designing and scaling enterprise SaaS ecosystems, integrations, data pipelines, and automated workflows across multiple business functions
  • Deep understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, authentication, middleware, event-driven architecture, ETL/ELT, data governance, and system-of-record strategy
  • Strong SQL proficiency and programming experience with one or more modern languages such as Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, or C#
  • Experience architecting and scaling enterprise-grade technology ecosystems across CRM, ERP, HRIS, identity, data and analytics, and integration and automation platforms, with deep experience across technologies such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Workday, Greenhouse, Okta, Snowflake, Databricks, MuleSoft, Boomi, Workato, Airflow, dbt, or comparable enterprise platforms required
  • Strong judgment and demonstrated success making decisions around architecture, security, controls, build-versus-buy strategy, platform consolidation, technical debt, reliability, and long-term scalability
  • Demonstrated experience building, developing, and leading high-performing technical teams and creating capabilities that scale beyond any individual leader
  • Proven ability to influence and partner with senior executives and functional leaders, translating complex business needs into clear technical strategies and measurable outcomes
  • A track record of using systems, automation, data, and emerging technologies to reduce complexity and manual work while enabling organizations to scale

Within your first year, you will have established the technical and operational foundation for NinjaOne’s business systems to scale with the company, enabling teams to move faster, make better decisions, and operate with significantly less manual work.

  • Established a scalable enterprise architecture connecting NinjaOne’s major business platforms with clear technical standards, ownership, governance, and controls
  • Transformed high-impact business processes through automation and emerging technologies, meaningfully reducing manual work and operational friction
  • Improved the quality, consistency, and availability of data, giving leaders faster access to trusted operational and executive insights
  • Established a prioritized technology roadmap that balances immediate business needs with long-term architecture, security, reliability, and scale
  • Built strong partnerships across executive, business, and technical teams, establishing Business Systems Engineering as a strategic enabler for the company
  • Built the team, operating model, and technical capabilities required for Business Systems Engineering to support NinjaOne’s next phase of growth

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to location, market demands, experience, job-related knowledge, and skills. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage and PTO. For roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey or Washington the base salary hiring range for this position is $275,000 to $300,000 per year with On Target Earnings of $343,750 to $375,000 per year.

For roles based in New York, the base salary hiring range for this position is $275,000 to $300,000 per year with On Target Earnings of $343,750 to $375,000 per year.
