A science teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive science curriculum to age appropriate level students in 6th through 8th grades.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Demonstrate accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content and Illinois State Standards
  2. Prepare lesson plans and conduct daily classroom instruction to appropriate instructional level
  3. Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students in the classroom
  4. Organize the classroom and learning resources to create a positive learning environment
  5. Observe and evaluate students to determine student progress or to make suggestions for improvement
  6. Provide feedback to parents on a student's progress at conferences and other meeting

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Letters of application
  • Recommendations and/or references
  • Ability to work as a team member and previous experience with middle school age children is preferred
  • Applicants must hold, or be eligible for, a valid Illinois Teaching Certificate (Type 03 or 09 with middle school science endorsement)
  • Past experience teaching the specific class will be considered first. If no previous teaching experience in the specific class, recent coursework or student teaching in the subject will be considered.
  • Ability to speak a foreign language is preferred
