What does mid mean in a job title?

In a job title, 'Mid' typically refers to a mid-level position, indicating that the role requires a moderate amount of experience—usually more than an entry-level role but less than a senior role. Mid-level professionals are expected to have a strong foundational knowledge in their field and the ability to work independently on most tasks. They may also begin taking on some leadership responsibilities, such as mentoring junior staff or managing specific projects. The exact requirements and expectations can vary depending on the industry and company.

What does a mid-level professional do?

As a mid-level professional, you can expect to handle more complex tasks and projects compared to entry-level colleagues. You’ll often be responsible for independently managing assignments, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, and providing input on project planning and execution. Additionally, mid-level roles frequently involve mentoring junior team members and communicating progress or challenges to supervisors. This level of responsibility helps you further develop your skills while preparing for potential advancement into senior roles.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a mid-level professional?

To thrive as a Mid-level Software Developer, you need solid programming skills, experience with software development lifecycles, and a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with tools like Git, integrated development environments (IDEs), and common frameworks or languages (such as JavaScript, Python, or Java) is typically expected. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate within a team help you stand out in this role. These skills and qualities are important as they enable you to deliver reliable code, integrate smoothly into projects, and contribute to team success.

Description
Position at Mid Island Animal Hospital
Overview:
United Veterinary Care is delighted to host veterinary students for externships across our network of over 100 hospital locations in more than 20 states. This clinical experience allows you to apply your classroom knowledge in a real-world hospital setting of your choice.
Our hands-on externships are designed for clinical-year students at AVMA-accredited schools, typically in their 3rd or 4th year. With opportunities across a wide variety of partner hospitals, you will gain diverse experience, mentorship, and confidence in your clinical skills. Students often describe their externships as transformative and highly supportive.
To help make these opportunities accessible, stipends are available to offset travel and lodging costs (unless prohibited by your veterinary school).
