About the Role:

The Lead Developer is responsible for leading complex application development efforts, designing secure and scalable integrations across core, digital banking, and ancillary systems, and advising IT leadership on technical approaches, risks, resource needs, and optimization opportunities. This role works closely with management to align development/programming team efforts with organizational priorities, project deadlines, regulatory expectations, security requirements, and member service goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on backend and/or frontend technologies.
  • Proven experience leading development teams or projects in an Agile environment.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and version control systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated professional experience designing, developing, implementing, documenting, and supporting production applications in an enterprise environment.
  • Advanced experience with one or more modern programming languages or technologies such as C#, Python, JavaScript, SQL, HTML/XML, PowerShell, PowerOn, ASP.NET, IIS, APIs, workflow automation platforms, or equivalent enterprise technologies.
  • Experience with Symitar PowerOn programming, core processing systems, digital banking systems, and financial institution technology environments strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex application development, automation, database, reporting, system integration, or modernization initiatives.
  • Prior experience providing technical leadership, mentorship, task coordination, code review, or team lead responsibilities preferred.
  • Practical experience applying AI-assisted development tools, automation platforms, intelligent workflows, or productivity tools in a secure and governed environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of database design, data modeling, SQL development, reporting methods, interface development, and data integrity controls.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and provide logical, secure, supportable, and well-documented solutions.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements, recommend technical solutions, evaluate risks, and guide implementation.
  • Ability to balance delivery speed with operational risk, security requirements, regulatory expectations, and long-term maintainability.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Database Administration, Programming, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Project management skills preferred.
  • Documentation and technical writing skills preferred.

  • Coordinate team workloads, project assignments, deadlines, and status reporting.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex development, integration, automation, reporting, and system support issues.
  • Design, develop, and maintain applications, integrations, databases, reports, and automated processes supporting business operations.
  • Establish and maintain development standards, testing procedures, documentation requirements, deployment processes, and quality assurance practices.
  • Review solutions to ensure security, scalability, maintainability, compliance, and alignment with organizational standards.
  • Lead automation, workflow, API, reporting, and modernization initiatives that improve efficiency and service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain SQL databases, interfaces, reporting solutions, and data integration processes.
  • Oversee the responsible use of AI-assisted development and automation tools in accordance with Marine FCU policies and security requirements.
  • Support audits, security reviews, compliance initiatives, and remediation efforts.
  • Coordinate implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and support of applications and system integrations.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to management by providing recommendations, risk assessments, and solution options.
  • Collaborate with business units and vendors to identify requirements and implement effective technology solutions.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices relevant to financial services.
