Journeyman-Level CNC Machinist II (Setup)

$30-$35/Hour | Direct Hire | 1st & 3rd Shift Opportunities, Fremont, OH

Are you a setup machinist who enjoys variety, challenging work, and being part of a highly skilled machine shop team? We're seeking experienced CNC Level II Machinists to support a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment producing precision components for custom equipment and machinery.

This is not a repetitive production role. Machinists here work on a diverse mix of parts, typically running batches of 60 pieces, with occasional runs up to 500 pieces, requiring strong setup skills, blueprint reading, and machining knowledge.

Compensation & Schedule

  • $30-$35/hour based on experience
  • Direct-hire opportunity
  • Primarily 6-day work weeks

Current Openings

CNC Mill Machinist - 1st Shift

  • 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • CNC Mills with supporting Bridgeport and manual lathe work

CNC Lathe Machinist - 3rd Shift

  • 9:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • 5-Axis Okuma VTL environment
  • New hires train on days until fully comfortable transitioning to nights

What You'll Do

  • Set up and operate CNC mills or CNC lathes with Heidenhain & Siemens controls
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Perform tooling changes and offset adjustments
  • Edit programs at the machine when required
  • Verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment
  • Monitor production and quality throughout machining operations
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Support manual machining operations when needed
  • Work within a team-oriented, cross-functional machining environment

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of CNC machining experience
  • Strong setup experience on CNC mills and/or lathes
  • Experience editing programs at the machine
  • Blueprint reading and inspection experience
  • Working knowledge of Heidenhain and/or Siemens controls preferred
  • CAM programming exposure is a plus
  • Experience with low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments
  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring tools
  • Journeyman card welcomed but not required
