Job description

Alliance Technical Group, a premier partner in environmental solutions is looking for a Shipping/Receiving Specialist II.

The Shipping/Receiving Specialist II is a mid-level role responsible for coordinating and executing shipping and receiving operations with a higher degree of independence, accuracy, and problem-solving than entry-level positions. This role ensures efficient material flow, maintains inventory integrity, and supports process improvements while serving as a resource for junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform receiving activities by verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing documentation. Inspect materials for accuracy, quality, and damage, and resolve discrepancies by coordinating with vendors, carriers, or internal departments.
  • Manage outbound shipping processes by prioritizing orders, picking and packing items, and preparing shipments in accordance with customer requirements and carrier standards. Ensure all shipping documentation, including bills of lading and tracking information, is accurate and complete.
  • Maintain and monitor inventory records using warehouse management or ERP systems. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, perform cycle counts, and support periodic audits to ensure inventory accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate workflow within the shipping/receiving area by organizing daily tasks, ensuring deadlines are met, and communicating priorities to team members. Provide guidance and on-the-job training to Shipping/Receiving Specialist I employees and assist in onboarding new staff.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and scanners safely and efficiently, maintaining required certifications where applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in shipping, receiving, and inventory handling. Assist in implementing new procedures to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance overall operations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments such as procurement, customer service, and production, as well as external vendors and carriers, to resolve issues and ensure timely delivery of goods.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or logistics-related training is a plus. Typically requires 2–4 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or logistics.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems, warehouse management software, and basic computer applications. Strong understanding of shipping procedures, documentation, and inventory control practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support team members.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a warehouse or distribution environment with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and heavy equipment. The role may require flexible scheduling, including overtime or weekend shifts based on operational demands.

Salary starting at $21/hr.
