Job description

Program Manager

BAE Systems is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Program Manager for the SSP Logistics Engineering contract, supporting the SP206 Logistics Data Program Area. The team is also responsible for the design development and delivery of the Logistics Data System to the Trident Refit Facilities and NAVSUP for the conduct of submarine refit planning, performance and reporting. The position is located at the BAE Systems Mechanicsburg, PA field office. Responsibilities include managing all phases of software development projects, including requirements definition, design, code, test, implementation, documentation, and cloud hosting and migration of legacy applications. Duties include briefing the customer at management reviews, providing status reports, participating in customer working groups, as well as performing data and systems analysis. Communication and collaboration are key to the success of this position. The Program Manager will be responsible for Cost, Schedule and Technical Performance of the projects and will participate in contract related efforts, business development efforts, corporate Program Performance Reviews, Strategy sessions, and Leadership meetings. The selected candidate will support the Logistics Program Manager as requested and will contribute to, and participate in, meetings and initiatives across the larger Program portfolio. As a decades long sole source partner on multiple contracts on behalf of our customer, our program has remarkable stability and is concurrently experiencing significant growth. Combined, these factors provide ample opportunity for professional growth and development for capable and talented individuals on our team.

About the Program: Our organization has supported the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Program (SSP) continually since the program's inception in the 1950s. SSP developed the first sea-based, underwater-launched Strategic Weapon System (SWS), a defense system that is truly critical to our national security. For more than six decades, SSP has maintained and upgraded this weapon system, and we have been there every step of the way. The sea-based SWS is the ultimate stealthy weapon system and as the first leg of the U.S. nuclear triad. With over 70% of our nation's nuclear arsenal its importance to maintaining world peace cannot be overstated. The development of Columbia, the most advanced nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed submarine ever designed, as well the next D5LE2 weapon system is under way and will begin to be rolled out over the next decade. The Navy projects this system to be operational through 2084, meaning the program will have a total life span of more than 120 years. This is a truly unique program and BAE Systems employees on this program understand they are part of an important legacy.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills: Education and years of professional related/relevant professional work experience - Bachelor's Degree preferred, but will consider equivalent education and years of related work in computer science, Engineering, Management or related field. Additional skills/experience required:

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Experience with cloud migration / modernization
  • Experience leading a multi-discipline project team and working in a collaborative environment
  • Exceptional stakeholder communication and presentation ability
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills required to interface with both government representatives and internal stakeholders
  • Experience troubleshooting problems, both software and business
  • Experience in project management specifically schedule, risk, scope, and cost

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Experience with DoD contracts
  • Experience managing all phases of the software development lifecycle
  • Experience in Oracle SQL, including PL/SQL scripting
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems
  • Knowledge and experience with US and UK Trident II Strategic Weapons System
  • Knowledge of and experience supporting the Strategic Systems Program (SSP)
  • Experience with Oracle Databases
  • ERP & Data Systems
  • Master's Degree in related field
  • Certifications including PMP, Cyber

Pay Information: Full-Time Salary Range: $136000 - $231200 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
