Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)
Location: Little River
JOB SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision by the Chief Medical Officer, the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) provides primary health care to individuals and families in the field of pediatrics in both normal and/or high risk populations with complex nursing/medical needs, in accordance with agency guidelines and medical protocols. Provider functions under signed medical protocols by the medical preceptor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBITIES include the following but are not limited to:
  • Performs comprehensive examinations, including physical, developmental assessment and screening for psychosocial problems.
  • Complete timely documentation in the EMR for each patient encounter and review patient medical records for accuracy, and completeness as outlined in LRMC Policy for ensuring timely medical record documentation.
  • Requests, obtains and evaluates results of screening tests.
  • Prescribes treatment plan for management/care for patients and families according to protocols and refers appropriately.
  • Develops a health maintenance plan for individual patients which includes health education, health promotion/disease prevention and general anticipatory guidance.
  • Counsels' patients and families appropriately regarding management of their care.
  • Monitors the treatment regimen in selected populations.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in all the above. Assessed by medical and clinical preceptors through record audits and one on one training and observation, at least once a year, or if needed.
  • Confer with medical preceptor at least monthly, or when needed for consultation, information, etc.
  • Develops with medical preceptor and supervisor protocols and/or appropriate literature or reference materials to be used and appropriate for state board of nursing for patient management of clients and families.
  • Provides ongoing staff education based on health needs of population served. Provides in-service education in area of specialty. Provides individualized clinical orientation for nursing personnel in specialty area.
  • Conduct quality assurance review utilizing clinical measures by life cycle.
  • Serve as advocate for the center and serve as liaison to local hospitals, health organizations as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as outlined in the Mid-Level Licensed Independent Practitioner Request for Privileges Document. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and /or EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have 3-5 years of experience as an NP. (Required)
  • Must specialize in Pediatrics. (Required)
  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed in the state of South Carolina. Minimum of one year experience in your specialty preferred.
  • Current license as Nurse Practitioner by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
  • Current driver's license may be required to use personal vehicle.
  • Must maintain Basic CPR certification. PALS or ACLS may be required depending on specialty area.
  • Must possess NP certification from a nationally accredited organization.
