Job description

Job Summary:
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is currently seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Software Engineer who will contribute to the performance and success of military personnel through a program focused on training modernization. The role involves developing and integrating software capabilities for a high-fidelity Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMT) in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement simulation software using DiSTI VE Studio in support of VMT functionality.
• Create and maintain VE Studio-based displays, interface logic, and supporting application components.
• Support messaging, integration, and data exchange between trainer software and external systems.
• Collaborate with software, systems, test, and hardware engineers to implement requirements and resolve defects.
• Support software integration, build, installation, and verification activities in lab and trainer environments.
• Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, peer reviews, and status updates.
• Analyze defects, troubleshoot software issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Assist with technical documentation and software configuration management activities.
• Support team collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) Development, or related technical field; internships may be considered based on skills and experience
• U.S. Citizenship required for the purpose of obtaining and holding a security clearance
• 1–5 years of software development experience supporting interactive applications, simulations, trainer systems, or virtual environments
• Experience with DiSTI VE Studio, GL Studio, or comparable simulation/HMI development tools
• Experience developing real-time interactive applications or simulation software
• Ability to troubleshoot software defects and support integration in a team environment
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills
