The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) - Phantom Works organization is seeking an Electro-Optical/Infrared Signature Analyst Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) to join the Phantom Works team located in St. Louis, MO.

This is a great opportunity to work on new systems and technologies as part of an integrated product team. This position will apply knowledge of advanced infrared and electro-optical signature design, analysis, integration, and test techniques for system integration. Candidates will apply electromagnetic theories and principles to develop new and innovative systems and components for next generation platforms. This job requires both hands-on and deskwork.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform design, analysis, and integration activities for technology and design integration of EO/IR design practices into advanced platforms

  • Assist in developing and documenting requirements for electromagnetic systems and components

  • Perform modeling and simulation of EO/IR performance for design optimization and validation

  • Generate design influence initiatives and direct design trade studies that may result from those initiatives

  • Work with suppliers and customers (internal and external) to ensure compliance, verification, and validation with technical requirements

  • Support and execute test plans and validation activities (lab and range) to verify performance and support correlation between simulation and measurement

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (structures, propulsion, materials, flight test, systems engineering, producibility) to ensure integrated solutions meet performance, manufacturing, and maintainability needs

  • Support technical documentation, specifications, design packages, and presentations for internal and customer review

  • Provide support to products throughout their lifecycle

  • Support development of proposals to support development of new business

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • Level 3: 5+ years of EO/IR signature analyst engineering experience

  • Level 4: 7+ years of EO/IR signature analyst engineering experience

  • Level 3 or 4: 3+ years of EO/IR design experience using photometric or radiometric requirements

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Master’s or PhD in applicable field

  • Optical engineering design background

  • Experience in modeling and simulation of EO/IR performance characterization

  • Experience with lab or field testing of EO/IR designs or systems to validate or measure photometric or radiometric performance

  • Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data

  • Experience correlating performance predictions with laboratory and measurement data

  • Experience with advanced concepts and associated design challenges

  • Familiarity with materials processing, application methods, environmental durability, and repair/maintenance impacts of configurations

  • Experience with CAD tools and model preparation for electromagnetic simulations

  • Strong technical communication skills, including written reports and oral presentations

  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks to meet program schedules
