Job description

Description: A Mid-Level Software Engineering position in Frisco, TX is currently available at Belcan. We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to support verification and validation activities for complex software and system-level applications. This role focuses on manual and automated testing within aerospace, defense, autonomy, or embedded system environments. The engineer will contribute to ensuring system performance, reliability, and compliance through rigorous testing, continuous integration, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform manual software and system-level testing across various development stages
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts
  • Execute regression, functional, and integration test suites
  • Support continuous integration (CI) pipelines with automated validation activities
  • Develop and maintain test cases, procedures, and test documentation
  • Perform Verification & Validation (V&V) in accordance with program requirements
  • Identify, document, and track defects, discrepancies, and test results
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and support defect resolution with engineering teams
  • Review and interpret technical requirements, interface specifications, and system architectures
  • Collaborate with software, systems, manufacturing, integration, and program management teams
  • Support system integration, lab testing, and fielding activities
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience, depending on level and role classification
  • Experience executing software and/or system-level testing in Aerospace, Defense Systems, Robotics or Autonomy Platforms, or Embedded Systems Environments
  • Strong understanding of software test methodologies, including Verification & Validation (V&V), Regression Testing, Functional and Integration Testing, and Test Case/Procedure Development
  • The ability to read and interpret technical requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), software/system documentation, test procedures, and system architectures
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
  • Experience documenting test execution results, discrepancies, and defect reports
  • Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting unmanned systems, autonomy platforms, aerospace programs, or defense programs
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL/HITL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) environments
  • Experience with flight testing or field integration activities
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense standards including DO-178C, DO-254, MIL-HDBK-516C, and MIL-STD frameworks or equivalent standards
  • Experience testing embedded or distributed systems
  • Experience supporting first-of-type system integration and fielding
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automated testing pipelines

Compensation: We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary rate of $90,000 to $130,000 however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
