Mid-Level ABA Clinician (BCBA Candidate)

Compensation: $30 an hour

Position Summary

House of Hearts ABA is seeking a highly organized, clinically skilled, and motivated Mid-Level ABA Clinician (BCBA Candidate) to support our growing clinical operations team. This position is designed for individuals who have completed a Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (or related field), successfully completed all BACB supervised fieldwork requirements, and are actively preparing for or awaiting BCBA certification.

Working under the supervision of a licensed BCBA, the Mid-Level ABA Clinician serves as an extension of the clinical leadership team by assisting with behavioral assessments, protocol modification support, treatment planning, clinical documentation, case management, insurance authorizations, quality assurance, and client startup coordination. The role supports both CPT 97151 (Behavioral Assessment) and 97155 (Adaptive Behavior Treatment with Protocol Modification) services while ensuring all clinical work remains under the review and approval of the supervising BCBA.

This position is ideal for an individual seeking advanced clinical experience and leadership development while transitioning into a Board Certified Behavior Analyst role.

Essential Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment Support (CPT 97151)

Under the supervision and direction of a supervising BCBA, the Mid-Level ABA Clinician will:

  • Assist with initial ABA assessments and reassessments.

  • Conduct caregiver interviews utilizing standardized assessment tools.

  • Complete direct behavioral observations.

  • Collect, organize, and summarize clinical assessment data.

  • Score standardized assessments including:

    • Vineland-3

    • VB-MAPP

    • ABLLS-R

    • AFLS

    • PEAK

    • Social Skills Assessments

    • Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA)

  • Draft behavioral assessment reports for BCBA review.

  • Assist with individualized treatment recommendations.

  • Prepare supporting documentation for insurance authorization requests.

  • Complete revisions requested by the supervising BCBA.

  • Organize assessment packets and supporting documentation.

  • Monitor assessment timelines and completion deadlines.

Protocol Modification & Clinical Case Management Support (CPT 97155)

Under the supervision of the supervising BCBA, the Mid-Level ABA Clinician will assist with activities related to adaptive behavior treatment with protocol modification by:

  • Reviewing ongoing client data to identify behavioral trends and treatment progress.

  • Conducting data analysis to support clinical decision-making.

  • Preparing draft protocol modifications for BCBA review.

  • Assisting with skill acquisition and behavior reduction program updates.

  • Reviewing treatment fidelity and implementation consistency.

  • Preparing supervision documentation for BCBA review.

  • Organizing protocol modification documentation.

  • Preparing graphs and clinical summaries for authorization renewals.

  • Assisting with caregiver training materials related to treatment updates.

  • Monitoring authorization periods and clinical deadlines.

  • Supporting quality assurance reviews related to treatment implementation.

  • Assisting with treatment integrity monitoring.

  • Supporting BCBA preparation for RBT supervision sessions.

  • Assisting with implementation of updated programming following BCBA approval.

Clinical Documentation & Client Startup

Assist Clinical Leadership by:

  • Reviewing referral packets and diagnostic documentation.

  • Preparing electronic medical record documentation.

Clinical Operations & Case Support

Provide clinical and administrative support by:

  • Reviewing client programming for completeness and accuracy.

  • Preparing program revisions for BCBA approval.

  • Monitoring clinical deadlines and authorization expiration dates.

  • Reviewing graphs and client progress reports.

  • Identifying potential barriers to treatment progression.

  • Preparing clinical summaries for leadership review.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or related field

Scope of Practice

This position does not function independently as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

All clinical activities associated with CPT 97151 (Behavior Identification Assessment) and CPT 97155 (Adaptive Behavior Treatment with Protocol Modification) are completed under the direct supervision, review, and approval of a licensed BCBA.

The Mid-Level ABA Clinician may assist with assessments, caregiver interviews, observations, data analysis, report drafting, treatment planning support, protocol modification preparation, clinical documentation, quality assurance, case management activities, and insurance authorization documentation. Final clinical decision-making, protocol modifications, treatment recommendations, report signatures, supervision responsibilities, and authorization submissions remain solely the responsibility of the supervising BCBA.

Growth Opportunity

This position is designed as a structured clinical bridge into a Board Certified Behavior Analyst role. As competencies develop, the Mid-Level ABA Clinician will gain progressive experience in behavioral assessment (97151), adaptive behavior treatment with protocol modification (97155), treatment planning, clinical leadership, insurance authorization, quality assurance, and case management under BCBA supervision. Upon successful BCBA certification and demonstration of clinical competency, opportunities may become available to transition into a full-time BCBA position within House of Hearts ABA.
