Job description

Job Overview:
  • The Associate BIT Field Engineer will provide hands-on technical support for live broadcast operations, satellite/microwave transmission systems, and field production environments.ย 
  • The role involves setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced broadcast and IP-based transmission equipment in 24x7 news production environments.

Requirement/Must Have:

  • 1+ years of experience in television, multimedia content, IT client service, or broadcast maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting broadcast or computer equipment at the field or component level.
  • Experience supporting live production environments.
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced, high-stakes broadcast settings.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts in a 24x7x365 production environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform field installation work including ladders and cabling.

Experience:

  • Experience with satellite trucks, portable satellite, microwave, or streaming transmission systems.
  • Experience with IP/Video/Audio transmission workflows.
  • Experience supporting ENG gear and field broadcast equipment.
  • Exposure to RF systems, bonded cellular, COFDM, and related technologies preferred.
  • Experience working with broadcast vendors such as Sony, Harmonic, or Evertz is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ITSM ticketing systems preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate satellite trucks and portable transmission equipment for live field broadcasts.
  • Set up, operate, and break down multi-path broadcast transmission systems.
  • Support IP, video, and audio transmission from remote locations.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot broadcast production equipment in field and bureau environments.
  • Perform maintenance on cameras, switchers, routers, encoders, and RF equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors and production teams for technical installations.
  • Log incidents, maintain documentation, and manage ITSM tickets.
  • Track inventory, parts, and technical supplies in coordination with support teams.
  • Support 24/7 broadcast operations across multiple high-profile locations.
  • Assist in maintaining operational standards and technical documentation.

Should Have:

  • Exposure to broadcast technology vendors and systems.
  • Basic networking and server/OS knowledge (Windows, Unix).
  • ITSM process familiarity.
  • Autocad or Visio experience for documentation.
  • Basic scripting or programming knowledge (HTML, C++, VB, scripting).
  • Multilingual communication skills.
