To strengthen our team at the Orlando location, we are looking for a Staff Electrical EngineerAs a key member of MicroVision's Hardware Design Engineering team, you will collaborate with various technical teams in the company to design and take into production market defining Automotive LiDAR product.
Summary:
The Staff Electrical Engineer is responsible for supporting the full product development lifecycle of complex circuit boards for automotive LiDAR systems. This role contributes to the design, integration, validation, launch, and sustainment of electrical hardware, working closely with cross functional teams to deliver robust, high-performance products suitable for volume production. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth in board level electrical design and hands-on problem solving across development and production phases.
Your responsibilities:
  • Lead and support the design and development of circuit boards for automotive LiDAR products, from concept through production release
  • Drive board level architecture, schematic development, component selection, and design tradeoff analysis for mixed signal, power, control, and interface circuits
  • Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, systems, optics, manufacturing, test, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure successful product integration
  • Support bring up, debug, integration, validation, and characterization of hardware in both laboratory and system level environments
  • Develop and execute test plans to verify performance, functionality, reliability, and design robustness
  • Investigate and resolve design, integration, manufacturing, and field issues through structured root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Support design for manufacturability, design for test, and design for reliability throughout the product lifecycle
  • Review PCB layouts to ensure proper implementation of electrical requirements, including power integrity, signal integrity, grounding, thermal considerations, and EMI mitigation
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation including design specifications, schematics, test reports, engineering change documentation, and release artifacts
  • Support product sustainment activities, including component changes, obsolescence management, supplier issues, yield improvement, and continuous product improvement

Our Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical hardware development, with significant experience in board level design and product development
  • Strong experience with schematic capture, circuit analysis, component selection, and PCB development processes
  • Experience supporting products through multiple phases of the development lifecycle, including design, integration, validation, production, and sustainment
  • Strong hands on lab skills, including board bring up, debugging, failure analysis, and use of standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, and logic analyzers
  • Experience with analog, digital, mixed signal, and power circuit design
  • Strong understanding of hardware development best practices, including design reviews, risk reduction, and documentation discipline
  • Ability to work effectively across cross functional teams in a fast paced product development environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience with SI/PI analysis using HyperLynx
  • Experience with complex sensing, imaging, or electro optical systems
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer
  • Experience with environmental, reliability, or compliance testing
  • Familiarity with automotive product development processes, requirements, or standards
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and supporting production ramp and field sustainment

MicroVision offers a flexible work schedule that could include a hybrid schedule of onsite and remote work, subject to team and business needs. Individual work schedules will be at the discretion of management and dependent on role and business needs. You must live and reside within commuting distance from MicroVision's office in Orlando, FL.
