Overview
Microsoft Digital (MSD) develops and manages products and services that support Microsoft's business operations. The organization brings together technical and business expertise, customer insights, and experience implementing Microsoft and industry solutions at enterprise scale. MSD employees contribute across engineering, technology leadership, digital transformation, and customer advocacy.
As part of Digital Support and Services (DSS) within MSD, the Senior Software Engineer contributes to Microsoft's service ecosystem through an integrated service management platform. The role supports platform development, collaborates across the organization, and builds relevant technical and business capabilities.
The role designs, develops, and maintains ServiceNow capabilities that enable partner organizations, including Global Helpdesk, to provide consistent and scalable support for Microsoft employees.
The role supports platform development through workflow automation, artificial intelligence-enabled experiences, and integrations between ServiceNow and Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Teams, Power Platform, Azure, and other enterprise services. These capabilities support self-service, proactive support, and data-informed service delivery.
Through engineering practices, platform management, and collaboration with support organizations, this role contributes to Microsoft's Digital First strategy, employee productivity, and support operations at a global scale.

Responsibilities
The Senior Software Engineer in this role will:
  • Design, develop, configure, and maintain ServiceNow applications and solutions using established platform practices.
  • Administer ServiceNow configurations, workflows, data quality, and upgrade readiness using low-code and no-code capabilities.
  • Develop workflow automation using Flow Designer, Integration Hub, and other ServiceNow capabilities.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions with defined outcomes.
  • Develop workflows, business rules, and automations that support operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs and enterprise integrations to support end-to-end integration requirements.
  • Manage instance security, user and group access, roles, related permissions, and access control lists (ACLs).
  • Embody our culture and values.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow design patterns, distributed systems, API integration, and modern engineering practices.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing solutions within a ServiceNow environment.
  • Experience with the design, development, and deployment of cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience delivering AI-enabled business solutions that support productivity, automation, and user experience objectives.
  • Experience implementing, configuring, and supporting ServiceNow Vendor Risk Management (VRM) and Software Asset Management (SAM) capabilities.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
