Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Manufacturing Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of manufacturing capabilities within our global Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) platform.
This role will be responsible for defining end-to-end manufacturing solutions across a complex, multi-ERP landscape, including the transition of acquired manufacturing businesses onto D365. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in discrete and/or process manufacturing, strong functional knowledge of D365, and the ability to partner across business and IT to deliver scalable, standardized solutions.
This is a hands-on architecture role requiring both strategic thinking and execution, with close collaboration across ERP, MES, integration, and data teams.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Design
  • Lead the design of end-to-end manufacturing processes in D365, including:
    • Plan to Produce (MPS/MRP)
    • Production Control (discrete and/or process manufacturing)
    • Shop floor execution
    • Inventory and warehouse integration
  • Define scalable solutions for multi-site, multi-entity manufacturing operations
  • Translate business requirements into solution designs, functional specifications, and architecture artifacts
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards and long-term ERP strategy

ERP + MES Integration
  • Partner with technical architects to define integration between D365 and MES systems (e.g., shop floor systems, work instructions, data collection)
  • Define system-of-record boundaries (ERP vs MES vs LIMS)
  • Support design of:
    • Production order integration
    • Inventory synchronization
    • Quality and traceability flows

Global Standardization & Transformation
  • Drive process standardization across acquired entities transitioning from legacy ERPs (e.g., AX, Business Central, QAD, WinBiz, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities to reduce customization and promote out-of-the-box D365 capabilities
  • Contribute to the 5-year ERP + MES transformation roadmap

Implementation Leadership
  • Act as the functional lead during D365 implementations:
    • Guide configuration decisions
    • Support design workshops and fit/gap analysis
    • Oversee functional testing and validation
  • Partner with system integrators and internal teams to ensure high-quality delivery

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with:
    • Operations / Manufacturing leadership
    • Supply chain, quality, and finance teams
    • Technical architects, developers, and integration teams
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the business on manufacturing system capabilities and best practices

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in ERP solution architecture or functional leadership roles
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) manufacturing modules:
    • Production Control
    • Master Planning (MRP/MPS)
    • Inventory Management
  • Proven experience in manufacturing environments (life sciences, medical device, or regulated industries preferred)
  • Experience supporting or integrating with MES systems
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Discrete and/or process manufacturing
    • Supply chain and inventory flows
    • Shop floor execution processes
  • Experience with multi-entity, global ERP implementations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in ERP consolidation or post-acquisition integration
  • Familiarity with Azure integration patterns (Logic Apps, Service Bus, APIs)
  • Exposure to LIMS, quality systems, or regulated manufacturing environments (GxP)
  • Experience working with Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps) for manufacturing insights
  • Microsoft certifications in D365 F&O (a plus)
