Position Summary

The Collaboration Engineer administers and supports the Firm's Microsoft 365 collaboration services, ensuring reliable day-to-day operation of Teams, Exchange Online, OneDrive, and SharePoint. This role executes operational tasks, assists with service improvements, and supports the stability, security, and performance of collaboration technologies. The position works closely with the Network Operations Center, Information Risk, and Identity teams to support service delivery and maintain a consistent user experience.

Position Responsibilities

  • Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 collaboration services, including Teams, Exchange Online, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
  • Support mail flow security operations, including monitoring, policy application, and issue resolution.
  • Assist the Network Operations Center (NOC) in identifying recurring issues and contribute to root cause analysis.
  • Execute Microsoft 365 service changes in accordance with established change management processes.
  • Support Information Risk in the implementation and maintenance of email security controls and policies.
  • Assist Identity and Information Governance teams with user lifecycle, access management, and data retention processes.
  • Support the implementation and adoption of Microsoft Copilot and related collaboration capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot routine to moderately complex issues and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, procedures, and knowledge base content.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and team-based operational initiatives.

Experience, skills, qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating foundational technical knowledge and the ability to deliver high-quality work product required.
  • 2+ years of experience administering Microsoft 365 collaboration services, including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and related security and compliance capabilities required.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 service changes, resolving routine to moderately complex technical issues, and creating clear operational documentation and support procedures required.
  • Experience using common M365 automation solutions (PowerShell, Power Platform, Azure Automation) to improve the efficiency & consistency of administrative and operational tasks preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage responsibilities independently, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain accountability for timely, high-quality outcomes.
  • Experience working with Information Risk, Identity, and Information Governance teams to support secure and effective Microsoft 365 operations through collaboration and shared problem-solving desired.
  • Hands-on experience administering email flow security, including spam filtering, transport controls, and related mail hygiene practices, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, high-quality results desired.
  • Experience supporting data retention, compliance, or governance capabilities within Microsoft 365, including Purview, with an awareness of operational risk and disciplined execution desired.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Copilot implementation, adoption, or governance for business-focused use cases, with openness to innovation and evolving technology trends desired.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, adapt messaging to varied audiences, and work effectively with stakeholders across technical and business teams desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, accept feedback, and contribute as a collaborative team member while maintaining accountability for results desired.
  • Functional Expertise - Demonstrates working knowledge of Microsoft 365 collaboration services, including Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online, and applies that knowledge effectively within assigned responsibilities to deliver high-quality outcomes. Maintains a broad understanding of Information Technology environments, services, and operational dependencies, stays current with industry trends and evolving technologies, and shows eagerness to learn.
  • Operational Excellence - Delivers accurate, timely, and high-quality work product with strong attention to detail, organization, and a customer-focused mindset. Manages multiple priorities, resources, and deadlines, adapts to changing demands and process inefficiencies, and demonstrates the flexibility to support operational needs, including maintaining a flexible work schedule and being available after hours when required.

SALARY

Illinois applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $100,000-$130,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
