Digital Consultants is seeking an Engineer I to provide technical support to the Navy's Fleet Submarine Very Low and Low-Frequency Broadcast Engineering Support team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform a wide range of electronic and technical tasks related to data communications equipment and systems.
  • Conduct thorough electronics troubleshooting of terminals using specialized diagnostic equipment.
  • Install terminals, controllers, and testing equipment, and restore nonfunctioning lines and equipment to optimal working condition.
  • Proficiently handle wiring and cabling installation and termination tasks.
  • Maintain effective communication with external vendors, placing orders for circuits and equipment as necessary, utilizing specific modems, test equipment, and terminal configuration knowledge.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair circuit boards/cards (2M/3M).
  • Interpret and implement electronic, electrical, mechanical, and installation drawings.
  • Gather and interpret requirements effectively.
  • Conduct site surveys and engage with clients, construction crews, utility personnel, and various company departments.
  • Execute installations, relocations, and modifications of telecommunications and related equipment following job order specifications, standards, and procedures.
  • Participate in telecommunications system upgrades and provide expert insights on system controls and maintenance.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform maintenance and repairs based on manufacturer recommendations and specifications.
  • Report and monitor service order changes.

Requirements
  • Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience in electronics design, repair, maintenance, and checkout.
  • Formal electronics training, encompassing Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Connector Making/Repairing.
  • Demonstrated capability to handle high-powered broadcast communication shore station installation assignments, often non-standardized or prescribed, and adapt standard communication procedures and equipment.
  • Profound understanding of electrical and electronic theory and a strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Experience in circuit modeling and design.
  • Knowledge of NAVELEX 0101,110 (series) criteria and its practical applications.
  • Proficiency in handling miscellaneous test equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generators.
  • Methodical engineering approach with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic theory.
  • Exposure to PLC programming.
  • Experience in system installation planning and execution, including familiarity with MS Project.
  • System Operational & Verification Testing (SOVT) and Pre-Installation and Test Check Out (PITCO) experience.
  • Strong work ethic and capacity to learn quickly with the ability to navigate and resolve ambiguity effectively.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Strongly desired: Electrician or Electrical installation knowledge.

Clearance: Secret
Education: BS degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
Software Engineer or computer related degrees only: Working towards the following certifications within one and a half year after assuming duties: Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM)/ Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) or with COR approval complete a vendor/platform specific certification ( e.g. , Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Sun Certified Professional (SCP), Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CISCO Certified Design Professional (CCDP), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), etc.)
Experience: One (1) year of experience in radio transmitters, antenna tuning control systems, transmitter control, and electrical power systems, to include: Systems/Equipment Support, and Test and Evaluation support of C4ISR requirements.
