Summary:

The Business Analyst Senior provides advanced operational, analytical, and quality control support for Commercial Loan Closing activities. This role is responsible for reviewing complex commercial loan transactions, monitoring collateral and due diligence requirements, processing and resolving original documentation as well as exceptions, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and bank standards. The position serves as a subject matter expert for legal documentation, collateral acceptability, and quality assurance processes. The Business Analyst Senior partners with legal counsel and internal business partners to facilitate timely and accurate transaction processing while identifying opportunities for process improvement, risk mitigation, and operational excellence. Success in this role requires strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a comprehensive understanding of commercial lending products and documentation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in commercial loan documentation, collateral requirements, due diligence processes, and loan closing activities.
  • Conduct detailed quality control reviews to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of loan documentation, collateral records, and supporting transaction documents.
  • Review, organize, and monitor loan documentation packages to ensure all documentation and collateral requirements are satisfied.
  • Monitor and manage collateral and documentation exceptions, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to research, resolve, and document issues.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, bank policies, and industry standards, including but not limited to Flood, OFAC, construction monitoring, and specialized lending requirements.
  • Analyze complex loan structures and legal documentation to validate collateral eligibility, identify potential risks, and ensure proper documentation execution.
  • Investigate and resolve documentation, servicing, and quality control issues by collaborating with attorneys, title companies, and internal business partners.
  • Assess and mitigate operational, compliance, and collateral-related risks associated with commercial loan transactions.
  • Identify trends, root causes, and process gaps, recommending solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and the overall client and colleague experience.
  • Support the implementation of process enhancements, procedural updates, and operational best practices to strengthen controls and drive continuous improvement.
  • Assist in training, mentoring, and sharing knowledge with team members to promote consistency and operational excellence.
  • Maintain accurate records, reporting, and tracking related to quality reviews, exceptions management, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in special projects, audits, system testing, and other initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of commercial lending, loan operations, loan documentation, quality control, risk management, or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial loan documentation, collateral requirements, due diligence, and loan closing processes.
  • Experience reviewing complex commercial lending transactions and legal documentation.
  • Strong understanding of commercial banking regulations, compliance requirements, and risk management practices.
  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation of operational efficiencies.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment on complex issues.
  • Experience supporting audits, quality assurance programs, or control environments preferred.

Compensation Range:

$57,000.00 - 113,000.00 Annual Salary

The compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
