Job Summary:
This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in firmware development and project management, particularly with experience in C programming. The role requires not only technical expertise but also strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. The ability to work cross-functionally and support production needs is crucial. Additionally, familiarity with Lua, UI design applications, and test-driven development would be beneficial. The job is based in Ripon, WI, and involves working with a global product portfolio used in diverse commercial settings.
Responsibilities:
  1. Leadership & Project Management:
    • Lead firmware-related projects.
    • Manage large-scale outsourced firmware development projects.
  2. Technical Expertise:
    • Become a subject matter expert on microelectronic product portfolios.
    • Establish firmware architecture requirements.
    • Write and validate detailed microelectronic control design and test specifications.
    • Maintain model configuration information for microelectronic product portfolios.
  3. Cross-functional Engagement:
    • Participate in cross-functional team activities.
    • Engage in product development meetings, feature definition sessions, pilot builds, and manual reviews.
  4. Testing & Validation:
    • Validate test equipment produced by manufacturers.
    • Perform firmware development and testing in lab environments.
    • Write test lab orders for execution by lab technicians.
  5. Issue Resolution:
    • Investigate and resolve firmware issues.
    • Drive root cause analysis and resolution.
  6. Quality & Cost Improvements:
    • Identify opportunities for quality and cost improvements.
  7. Production Support:
    • Provide support to production as needed.
  8. Vendor Management:
    • Manage vendor access to licensed developer applications and tools.

Education & Experience:
  • Preferred Degrees:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of programming experience.
    • Extensive experience in firmware development with C programming.
    • Experience with Lua and UI designer applications like Storyboard is a plus.
    • Project management experience is highly desirable.
