Microbiologist Two Jobs in Colorado (NOW HIRING)

Department: MHC Microbiology

Work Schedule: Full Time, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)  

Shift: 

• Primarily day shift (approximately 0600-1630) with occasional evening shift coverage
• Four 10 hour shifts; rotating every third weekend and rotating holidays

Pay: 33.82 - 50.73 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

Summary:
Performs laboratory testing of patient specimens in the MHC Microbiology Department, including specimen setups, rapid molecular testing, culture reading, bacterial identification, antimicrobial susceptibility review.

Responsibilities:

• Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens. Interprets, documents and reports test results.
• Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Complies with good laboratory practice and regulatory requirements.
• Performs projects as assigned as well as serves as a resource to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist program.
• Required Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or categorical ASCP certification in a laboratory specialty/sub-specialty as applicable to job responsibilities. State licensure if required by law. Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Relevant life support certification as determined at position level.
  
• Previous experience in Microbiology reading culture plates preferred.
