Their duties include organizing practices, teaching sportsmanship, ensuring player safety, and fostering personal and athletic growth among student-athletes. To thrive as an MHSAA Coach, you need a solid knowledge of the sport, experience in coaching or playing, and often completion of required certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and the MHSAA Coaches Advancement Program. Familiarity with video analysis software, online training platforms, and scheduling tools is typically expected. Leadership, effective communication, and the ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes are vital soft skills. These competencies ensure the safety, development, and performance of student-athletes while maintaining compliance with MHSAA regulations.
