Job description

Posting Date: Friday, April 10, 2026     Position: Freshman Boys Basketball Head Coach     Qualifications:
  • Must be a high school graduate; college graduate preferred.
  • Valid certifications (or willingness to obtain) including:
    • CPR/AED and First Aid
    • MHSAA CAP (any level)
  • Previous basketball participation required; coaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding pertaining to sport, strategies, rules, etc.
  • Knowledge and Understanding of Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with high school student-athletes, parents, and staff.
  • Demonstrated coaching strategies and methods that align with the District's Student-Focused Coaching and Leadership Philosophies. 
  Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions for the team you are assigned to, in accordance with the FRCS Athletic Coaching Handbook and District Policies.
  • Maintain a consistent presence and commitment to the program, prioritizing responsibilities to the program throughout the season.
  • Communicate and enforce all school, league, and Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules and regulations.
  • Promote academic achievement, sportsmanship, and personal development among team members.
  • Work collaboratively with the athletic department and coaching staff to ensure a safe and well-organized program.
  • Represent Flat Rock Community Schools in a professional and respectful manner at all practices, meets, and school-related events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
