High School Summer Intern: Process Engineering
Position Summary:
As a Process Engineering Intern, your main tasks will involve running experiments and trials to improve processes, measuring materials and device properties, and analyzing data. Additionally, you'll help write/modify document procedures and work directly with manufacturing equipment while collaborating closely with Process Engineers, Quality Engineers, and other team members to maintain quality standards and enhance our products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Contribute to the development and implementation of CelLink's flexible circuit manufacturing technology.
  • Run experiments and line trials to implement improvements in cost, yield, or process performance.
  • Take measurements of key materials and/or device properties; record, analyze, and present data.
  • Systematically apply knowledge of statistics, chemistry, engineering, physics, and materials to identify and solve problems.
  • Assist with documentation of procedures and job instructions; assist in training of operations staff.
  • Work hands-on with manufacturing equipment.
  • Work closely with Process Engineers, Quality Engineers, and manufacturing personnel to meet quality standards and make improvements to our products.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Experience/Education:
  • Currently enrolled as a high school senior or equivalent with a GPA of 2.5 or better, or possession of a high school diploma or equivalent; enrolled/accepted to a part-time or full-time college in an academic program at an accredited college or university a plus

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Independent problem solver with a desire to learn new skills and develop new technology.
  • Able to generate and apply creative solutions to maintain/improve processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented mind set.
  • Experienced with data recording, analysis, and presentation using at the Microsoft Office package at a minimum.
  • Able to adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced start-up setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to operate safely in a manufacturing environment.

Plusses:
  • Hands-on experience working in a lab, including operating and maintaining metrology equipment.
  • Hands-on experience working in a manufacturing environment, including operating production tools.
  • Experience with JMP, Minitab, Python, and related software is a plus.
  • Experience with CAD software is a strong plus (SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) is a plus.

Working Conditions/Hours:
This role is an hourly position, and the intern will be required to work 40 hours per week during the summer. The start date and duration of the internship are flexible depending on availability, with a minimum commitment of 10 weeks.

Physical Demands - Office and Manufacturing Environment
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and pull/push; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment -
Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and skin exposure to chemicals used to run/maintain machines.

May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, bump-caps, gloves, hair nets, masks, & clean-room frocks while adhering to the prescribed safety procedures.
