Warehouse Assistant
Reports To: Production Manager
Employment Type: Regular, Full-time
FLSA Status: Hourly, Nonexempt
8:30AM-5:00PM
About Metro Plastics Technologies LLC
Metro Plastics Technologies is an industry leader in custom plastic injection molding. With over 45 years in business, Metro Plastics has extensive plastic production capabilities, engineering expertise, and a dedicated on-site tool room and metrology lab supporting operations in a newly built state-of-the-art facility in Noblesville, IN.
PURPOSE: Material, packaging, and completed items are received, stored, counted, and distributed throughout the warehouse. Supports shipping via numerous suppliers to guarantee products get at their destination on schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Loads and unloads items to and from warehouse (receiving and shipping dock) and production floor using various moving equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Prepares and processes receiving and shipping documents
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets for shipment.
  • Maintains fork truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
  • Opens bales, crates, and other containers. Record amounts of materials or items received.
  • Weighs or counts materials and marks with identifying information to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Uses WMS (warehouse management system) and RF scanners to view inventory and approved move transactions us
  • Assists with placing delivered items and returned items from production into stock.
  • Prepares parcels for mailing.
  • Maintains accurate records.
  • Ensures orderliness and cleanliness of warehouse and prevent aisles and emergency exits from being blocked.
  • Participates in, and prepares for Physical inventories, conducts cycle counts and assists other areas as needed.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 months related work experience, previous experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience operating moving equipment such as forklifts, manual and electric pallet jacks
    • Must be certified to operate equipment within 60 days from date of hire.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions, manuals, and safety rules
  • Experience using barcode scanners and WMS track materials.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter and able to effectively work without close supervision.
  • Flexibility and ability to handle and manage change effectively and efficiently.
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
  • Employee will stand or walk most of their work hours
  • Employee will routinely use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
