Job Title: Bus Driver
Salary Structure: $17.51+/hr.
Position Contract: 10-Months, Non-Exempt, Support Staff, (187 Days)

General Description:
Metro Technology Centers is accepting applications for a Bus Driver who will be responsible for providing safe, orderly transportation of students to and from high schools and residences, following prescribed procedures and established standards.
General Qualification Requirements:
Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • One year experience driving a commercial vehicle.

(Above requirements may be met by an equivalent combination of education and experience.)
Representative Duties:
  1. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
  2. Drives bus on assigned route(s) and within established time schedule.
  3. Drives bus on educational field trips as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor
  4. Supervises passengers while in transit, maintaining order and discipline. Completes paperwork reporting behavior problems when necessary.
  5. Practices all safety rules relating to school buses and passengers. Obeys all traffic laws.
  6. Reports accidents according to established procedures.
  7. Performs daily maintenance and safety inspection of bus and turns in designated inspection report.
  8. Maintains prescribed cleanliness standards for buses.
  9. Assumes personal responsibility for two-way radio, fire extinguisher, first-aid kit, and other such items on the assigned bus.
  10. Refuels assigned bus as needed.
  11. Demonstrates a positive, cooperative attitude toward work assignments and requirements.
  12. Complies with established work rules, ethics and organizational policies.
  13. Performs related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Special Requirements:
  • Licenses/Certificates: Commercial Driver's License-Class B
  • With P & S - Endorsements.
  • Pass annual physical required for "Bus Driver's Certificate"
  • Excellent driving record (indicating 3 or fewer moving violation citations during the past 3 years).

OSBI Criminal History Report will be completed immediately upon employment.
