To thrive in a Metrc Specialist role, you need a thorough understanding of compliance regulations in the cannabis industry, attention to detail, and strong data management skills. Familiarity with the Metrc seed-to-sale tracking system and related state or local compliance platforms is often required, along with any applicable compliance certifications. Back of House (BOH) Lead

JOY LEAF NJ LLC

Roselle, NJ

$20/hr

Full-time

Posted 6 days ago

Job description

Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required

Benefits: Paid training · Employee discount · Healthcare Reimbursement

About the role

As Back of House Lead, you're the person making sure our inventory is accurate, our shelves are stocked, and our compliance is airtight. Most of your day lives in the Vault — running counts, managing METRC and Sweed, replenishing the floor, and leading intake of deliveries partnering on intake from deliveries. When the floor gets busy or we're short-staffed, you step in to help wherever the team needs you most.

You'll report to the Compliance Manager, with oversight from the General Manager. If you've run a tight inventory or operations setup before — and you take real pride in accuracy, compliance, and keeping things flowing — this is the role.

Owning Inventory Accuracy

  • Lead daily, mid-month, and end-of-month inventory counts — accuracy, existence, and completeness
  • Manage inventory in METRC and Sweed, including RFID tag accuracy
  • Maintain live inventory displays for compliance with tagging and expiration requirements
  • Manage inventory thru FIFO and maintain team awareness of expiring products
  • Track samples and marketing products through the system

Keeping Operations Moving

  • Execute BOH opening and closing procedures
  • Lead team execution of compliant intake of deliveries
  • Ensure accurate systematic receiving of product & product costing
  • Train associates on fulfillment workflows and reinforce compliance procedures
  • Step in on the floor during high-traffic windows or when staffing is tight

What We're Looking For

You'll do well in this role if you:

  • Are wired for accuracy — counts, paperwork, tags, dates
  • Stay calm, organized and methodical in a high-volume, fast-moving environment
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, vendors, and the floor team
  • Spot what's off before it becomes a problem
  • Are comfortable jumping in to help on the floor when the team needs you

You'll also need:

  • At least one year of inventory, warehouse, or operations leadership experience (shift lead, supervisor, team lead, or similar)
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • To be 21 or older (a New Jersey requirement for dispensary work)
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays

Cannabis or METRC experience? Nice to have, not required. We train you on METRC, Sweed, and everything else you need to know about our products and our processes.

You'll Thrive Here If…

Our four values — empowerment, empathy & compassion, joyful experiences and excellence — aren't posters on the wall. They're how we hire, how we coach, and how we treat each other and every guest who walks through the door. As a BOH Lead, you live them quietly — through the accuracy that makes sure a customer's order is right, and the care that keeps your teammates set up to do their jobs well.

How We Hire

In 2025, Joyleaf was named Best Dispensary in New Jersey at the NECANN Cup — judged through a third-party secret-shopper program scoring customer experience, staff knowledge, and community impact across 220+ licensed dispensaries. That recognition belongs to our team, and we take it as a charge to keep hiring people who are values-aligned, high-performing, and ready to deliver the experience our guests have come to expect.

If we decide to move forward with your application, here's what to expect::

  • Hiring assessment. A short online assessment focused on operational judgment, accuracy, and leadership scenarios.
  • Virtual screening with HR. A casual conversation about your experience, what you're looking for, and any questions you have for us.
  • In-person interview with Joyleaf management. Meet the leaders you'd be working alongside and see the space.
  • Paid, hands-on activity. A short, paid working session where you can experience the role in real time and we can see you in action.

The Physical Part

You'll be on your feet for most of your shift, moving between the Vault, the floor, and intake. You'll regularly lift and carry boxes up to 10 lbs, and occasionally up to 30 lbs. You'll spend time at a computer managing METRC and Sweed, and you'll work hands-on with inventory throughout the day.

Equal opportunity

Joyleaf is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We're committed to building a team that reflects the community we serve, and a workplace where everyone belongs — regardless of disability, sex, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, age, or veteran status. If you need a reasonable accommodation to apply, interview, or perform the role, please contact hr@joyleaf.com.
