Job description

Position Overview

The Data Entry Assistant (Temporary) provides administrative and clerical support to the Business Office by accurately processing member contributions, maintaining church records, assisting with purchase order processing, and supporting daily office operations. This position requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to manage routine administrative tasks efficiently while supporting the mission and ministry of Hope United Methodist Church.

Essential Job Functions

Financial Data Entry

  • Accurately enter weekly member contributions into the church database.
  • Verify contribution information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist with preparing contribution records for reporting and year-end giving statements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all financial and donor information.

 

Member Records

  • Enter new member and visitor information into the church management system.
  • Update existing member records, including contact information and family details.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate and organized church database records.

Office Administration

  • Sort and distribute incoming mail.
  • Prepare outgoing mail as assigned.
  • Assist with processing purchase orders and maintaining support documentation.
  • File and organize financial and administrative records.
  • Perform general data entry and clerical duties as assigned.

Administrative Support

  • Support the Chief of Staff with special projects and administrative tasks.
  • Assist with maintaining organized electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Provide courteous assistance to church staff and ministry leaders as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience with data entry or office administration preferred.
  • Strong keyboarding and computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial and personal information.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience with church management software is a plus but not required.

Working Conditions

o   Tuesday – 8 hours, OR;

o   Tuesday & Thursday – 4 hours each day
