Job description

Facilities Technician

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
As part of a dynamic team, be responsible for efficient upkeep of church building and grounds including daily room set ups for a variety of meetings and events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Cleaning building interiors and exteriors using heavy equipment such as vacuums, buffers, carpet extractors, pressure washers, and high-reach poles.
  • Maintaining custodial equipment in good working order.
  • Setting-up rooms and outside areas for routinely scheduled meetings, services, and events.
  • Responding to requests by other staff members for set-up of facilities and equipment for special events and meetings.
  • Performing minor repairs on equipment and building structures.
  • Becoming familiar with the equipment and controls used throughout the St. Andrew facilities and be comfortable in operating them.
  • Becoming familiar with the wide range of programs and activities within St. Andrew and supporting the staff team and congregant use of the facility.
  • Working primarily inside with occasional outside work including some lawn maintenance and snow removal.
  • Occasional cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and kitchens (contracted overnight crew maintains restrooms throughout the building).
  • Support the onsite Preschool and/or Kids Ministry with spill and accident clean up as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous custodial and maintenance experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a diverse, community environment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – friendly
  • Be a reliable team player

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS    Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 80 pounds and climb a ladder

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS    Prefer Sunday through Thursday, but can be negotiated

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS    High school diploma or GED

WORKING CONDITIONS     Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, including indoor and outdoor activity. Must pass a background check.

SALARY RANGE     $18/$22 per hour, nonexempt position
