General Purpose

We are seeking a safety focused and detail-oriented Field Metering Specialist to join the team! The ideal candidate combines strong technical aptitude with problem-solving skills, a commitment to customer service and safety, and the ability to work independently in outdoor environments.

Field Metering Specialists play a vital role in ensuring accurate electric meter data collection and customer account management. These employees are responsible for reading electric meters along established routes by walking and/or driving. Using handheld electronic devices, they record meter readings and document field conditions, including meter malfunctions, safety concerns, and potential instances of meter tampering.

In addition to the responsibilities listed, Field Metering Specialists perform electric meter disconnects, reconnects, and inspections for customer accounts that are delinquent or require service verification. Must be able to participate in after-hours call-outs and respond to service requests as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Connect/Disconnect accounts.  
  • Performs the same duties as Meter Reader as needed.
  • Collection of Deferred payment arrangements with delinquent customers.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activity reports, collection reports, and delinquent accounts.  
Requirements
  • Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must pass a physical "Fitness for Duty" examination.
  • Successfully pass the Meter Reader Competency Examination.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently in outdoor environments and in varied weather conditions. They must also be able to work safely around dogs and other animals while maintaining positive interactions with customers and property owners. Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
