KREX-TV in beautiful Grand Junction, Colorado has an immediate opening for an on-air Meteorologist. This is a full-time, Monday - Friday weather position where you will produce content for television, digital and social platforms. Apply and include a link to your on-air work. - Must be well-versed in utilizing social media to post weather content which engages viewers and users. Writes web stories detailing the local forecast daily.
- Ensures that all weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
- Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating weather programming and other content.
- Responds to breaking and/or severe weather events and other urgent newsrooms situations as required.
- Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in meteorology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability toad libwhen required.
- Proficiency with weather computer systems.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
