Job description

Engineering Intern
We are looking for an Engineering Intern for our Plymouth, MI facility. In this role you will gain an introduction to vacuum/inert induction melting, gas atomization & powder downstream processing. The Intern's direct role will be to create Oerlikon AutoCAD renderings of various components, updating plant layout drawings, and compiling information concerning critical process measuring devices. The intern will also complete one reasonably sized process improvement proposal & present it to key staff members to the conclusion of his/her internship period.
Your Responsibilities:
Principle responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Full AutoCAD renderings of physical hardware components
  • Updating plant layout drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Updating instrument calibration catalogue to include missing instruments (flow meters, thermocouples, etc.).
  • Designing and proposing organization structure for Engineering files.
  • Implementation of structure if approved.
  • Assist Process/Project Engineers with manufacturing process improvement projects.
  • Prepare project summaries.
  • Follow all company safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Your Profile:
  • Pursuing bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder
  • Eagerness to get hands-on with dirty, noisy, and hot equipment when help is needed.

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, thermodynamics, and/or fluid dynamics
  • Knowledge of powder metallurgy, thermal barrier coatings and/or additive manufacturing.

Skills & Expertise
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a cross-functional team.
