Summary
SRP is seeking a motivated College Intern to support our teams while gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. This internship offers students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects that support SRP's commitment to delivering reliable, sustainable water and power services. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful work, and develop technical and professional skills relevant to their field of study. The role is designed to foster learning, teamwork, and innovation while providing exposure to SRP's operations and culture. This is an excellent opportunity for students who are eager to learn, grow, and make an impact while exploring a future career with SRP.
- In order to be eligible for the Student Intern Program at SRP, the employee must be actively enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours that are college level (100) or above over the course of a regular semester and must be working towards a degree or certificate from an accredited college or university.
- The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department's needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.
What You'll Do
Under the guidance and mentorship of a Metallurgical Engineer, the College Intern will support a variety of metallurgical and materials engineering activities, including:
- Metallography
- Microscopy
- Sample preparation
- Microstructure interpretation
- Failure analysis
- Field inspections
- Technical report preparation
- Laboratory equipment management
Education
A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
Additional Requirements and Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or Metallurgical Engineering.
Type of learning and training:
- The intern will receive hands-on training from a metallurgist in performing metallurgical examinations, primarily in our in-house laboratory. Training will include sample preparation, operation of advanced laboratory equipment, microstructural analysis, failure mechanism determination, and preparation of professional technical reports, providing practical experience that supports post-graduation employment.
Work schedule and location:
- Flexible schedule of 15 to 40 hours per week, based on the student's academic commitments and availability.
- Work location is Gilbert, AZ.
- This position is onsite only, there is no option for a hybrid workschedule.
