To thrive as a Metallic Epoxy Flooring Installer, you need expertise in surface preparation, epoxy mixing/application, and an understanding of flooring materials, often acquired through hands-on experience or vocational training. Familiarity with tools like grinders, trowels, moisture meters, and knowledge of epoxy systems and safety certifications such as OSHA are important. Attention to detail, creativity, customer service, and strong problem-solving skills help installers deliver high-quality, customized results. These abilities ensure durable, visually appealing floors and satisfied clients, which are essential for success in this specialized trade.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals applying metallic epoxy coatings, and how can they be addressed?

Variations in temperature and humidity can affect the outcome, so it's important to carefully prep surfaces and maintain ideal environmental conditions. Additionally, precise mixing and application techniques are key to preventing color separation and ensuring a smooth, durable surface. Continuous learning and collaboration with experienced team members can help overcome these challenges and improve results.

What are metallic epoxy floors?

Metallic epoxy floors are a type of decorative flooring created by mixing metallic pigments with epoxy resin. When applied, the mixture creates a smooth, durable surface with a unique, three-dimensional appearance that often resembles marble, waves, or clouds. These floors are popular in both residential and commercial settings due to their high durability, resistance to stains and chemicals, and eye-catching visual effects. Installation requires professional skill to achieve the desired look and long-lasting results.

Job description

Floor Coverings International of Mission Viejo is looking for an experienced Epoxy Flooring Installer to join our growing team. We specialize in high-quality garage floor coatings, including solid color epoxy, decorative flake systems, and custom metallic finishes. Our projects focus on delivering durable, visually striking floors for residential garages and light-commercial spaces throughout Orange County and Los Angeles. Often, these are car enthusiasts, so the flooring must look exceptional!
We are seeking someone who understands the entire epoxy installation process, from surface preparation to final topcoat. The ideal candidate has experience working with diamond grinders for proper concrete preparation, understands moisture considerations, and takes pride in delivering clean, professional results. This role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare concrete surfaces using diamond grinding equipment to ensure proper coating adhesion.
  • Install epoxy flooring systems, including solid color, decorative flake, and metallic epoxy finishes.
  • Perform crack repairs, patching, and surface leveling when required.
  • Apply base coats, broadcast flakes, metallic pigments, and clear topcoats according to system specifications.
  • Maintain clean job sites and protect surrounding areas during installation.
  • Work efficiently with a small crew to complete projects on schedule.
  • Communicate with the project lead regarding job progress and material needs.

Requirements

  • Live within 30 miles of Lake Forest, CA (it is too hard to travel and be on time if you are further away)
  • Be on time for jobs to pick-up materials at warehouse
  • Be a great communicator. We need to know what is going on, when you will finish, and if anything comes up in the process of installation.
  • 5 years experience installing epoxy flooring systems, specifically garage coatings. We will ask for pictures and explanations of challenges that you have come across when installing in the past, and how you worked through them.
Pay for Jobs
  • 2-Stall Garage Equivalent = $1000 (grind, epoxy, UV clear coat)
