Position Summary
The Metal Roofer is responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of various metal roofing systems and related sheet metal components on commercial, industrial, and residential projects. This position requires experience with standing seam roofing systems, snap lock panels, exposed fastener panels, gutters, downspouts, flashing, drip edge, coping, trim, and custom metal details. The Metal Roofer must be able to work safely at heights while producing quality workmanship in accordance with company standards and manufacturer specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install metal roofing systems including:
    • Standing seam roofing systems
    • Snap lock panel systems
    • Mechanically seamed systems
    • Exposed fastener panel systems
    • Architectural metal panels
    • Corrugated metal panels
  • Install and fabricate:
    • Drip edge
    • Gutters
    • Downspouts
    • Fascia and soffit metal
    • Coping caps
    • Counter flashing
    • Ridge caps
    • Valley metal
    • Custom sheet metal trim and flashing details
  • Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, brakes, shears, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, plans, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform layout and installation of metal roof systems to ensure proper alignment, waterproofing, and appearance.
  • Install sealants, underlayments, insulation, fasteners, clips, and related roofing accessories.
  • Repair leaks and perform troubleshooting on existing metal roofing systems and sheet metal components.
  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA safety standards, company safety policies, and project specifications.
  • Operate ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and fall protection equipment safely.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and working condition.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, crew members, general contractors, and customers.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting roofing materials and equipment.
  • Complete work in a productive and timely manner while maintaining quality standards.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in metal roofing and sheet metal installation preferred.
  • Knowledge of standing seam and snap lock roofing systems required.
  • Ability to fabricate and install metal flashing and trim details.
  • Experience with gutters and downspout installation preferred.
  • Ability to read tape measures and perform basic construction math.
  • Ability to read blueprints and manufacturer installation specifications.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work at heights and on sloped roofs.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing 50-100 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and roofing equipment.

Safety Requirements
  • Must follow all OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
  • Must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) including:
    • Harnesses and fall protection
    • Hard hats
    • Safety glasses
    • Gloves
    • Appropriate footwear
  • Must maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Must be able to pass a background check

Preferred Skills
  • Experience operating metal brakes and fabrication equipment.
  • Knowledge of waterproofing and roof penetration flashing methods.
  • Experience with commercial roofing systems and building envelope details.
  • Ability to lead small crews or train helpers/apprentices.
  • Welding or soldering experience is a plus.

Work Environment
Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions on commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential construction sites. Employees may work at significant heights and around active construction operations.
