Metal Fabricator

Position Summary:

The Metal Fabricator will construct various jigs/fixtures related to the manufacturing process with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.
 

Job Responsibilities:

  • The Metal Fabricator works closely with manufacturing engineering team to research and develop creative and effective solutions for manufacturing and product launch projects
  • The Metal Fabricator, along with manufacturing engineering team, develops methods to improve department operation and overall operation of the manufacturing process
  • Weld & fabricate metal reinforcements for various production molds
  • Weld & assemble a variety of jigs, fixtures used in manufacturing
  • Order and maintain department supplies

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Knowledge of manufacturing process
    • Trade school/college education - welding
    • Proficient in MIG welding
    • Ability to research and problem solve a variety of production issues
    • Familiar with metal working tools including: horizontal band saw, drill press, MIG welder, iron worker acetylene torch, pipe bender, lathe, vertical mill, belt, grinder
    • Familiar with hi-lo, hoists, and man lift
    • Experience with hand tools including: drill, driver, tap and dies, files, grinder, sander, etc.
    • Knowledge of basic shop math

    Experience With the Following is a Plus:

    • Hydraulic and pneumatic experience a plus
    • Excellent team and communication skills
    • Knowledge of basic woodworking machines: table saw, band saw, radial arm saw
    • 1-3 years experience reading blueprints
    • Boat assembly experience is a plus
    • TIG, pulse, and flux core is a plus

    • Able to follow manufacturing instruction and understand processes
    • Must practice PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) policies as mandated per area. (Use safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection, etc.)
