Description

The Mundy Companies, a leader in the industrial maintenance, services, and construction fields, is currently hiring the following for a long-term position in the Pasadena, Texas area:

INSULATOR / METAL MAN
4 x 10's + OT (as needed).
Successful candidates will have continuous and current experience as an Insulator in a petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment. NCCER certification for Insulator is preferred, but not required.
 

Insulator Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints and select required insulation material
  • Brush adhesives on or attach metal adhesive backed pins to surfaces as necessary to facilitate the application of insulation material
    • Other forms of fastening may involve staples, tape, or wire bands
  • Measure and cut insulation material to specified size and shape for covering flat or round surfaces, using tape measure, knife, or scissors
  • Fit, wrap, or attach required insulation material around or to structure, following blueprint specifications
  • Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape to secure insulation to the structure according to type of insulation used and structure covered.
  • May be required to screw on sheet metal around insulated pipes to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical abuse
 

Physical Demands:
May involve work both indoors and outdoors, as well as in extreme hot or cold weather conditions.  May spend most of the work day standing on feet, and require bending, stooping, and/or squatting.  May require working in cramped and uncomfortable conditions.  May be required to climb about machinery and climb ladders, scaffolds, and catwalks.  Must be able to wear respiratory equipment when required.
The successful candidate will maintain a high degree of personal safety and environmental awareness at all time.   This position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a safe, efficient manner.  The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing is also required.  All qualified applicants must be craft certified or possess the ability to pass a craft test, as well as the ability to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen and other qualifications as required.
