What is meta construction?

Meta Construction generally refers to the use of advanced digital technologies, such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and Building Information Modeling (BIM), to plan, design, and manage construction projects. These technologies enable stakeholders to visualize, simulate, and optimize building processes before physical work begins, resulting in greater efficiency and reduced errors. Meta Construction is transforming the industry by enabling remote collaboration, real-time updates, and better decision-making throughout a project's lifecycle.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in meta construction project management, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in meta construction project management often encounter challenges such as coordinating across multiple disciplines, managing digital construction models, and ensuring all stakeholders are aligned with project goals. Effective communication and strong organizational skills are essential to navigate these complexities. Utilizing collaborative project management software and regularly scheduled coordination meetings helps keep teams on track and minimizes misunderstandings. Continuous professional development in digital construction trends also plays a key role in overcoming these challenges.

Job description

Fuse Energy is a forward-thinking renewable energy startup on a mission to deliver a terawatt of renewable energy – fast. We're combining first-principles thinking with cutting-edge technology to build a radically better energy system. We raised $210M from top-tier investors including Multicoin, Balderton, Lakestar, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, Ribbit, Box Group and strategic angels like Nico Rosberg, the Co-Founder of Solana and GPs behind Meta, Revolut, Spotify, Uber and more.

We're creating a fully integrated energy company: from developing renewable generation and grid infrastructure to powering the next generation of AI and compute‑intensive industries. But we’re not stopping there. We’re also building the Energy Network: a decentralised platform of smart devices to electrify our homes, shifting usage to off‑peak hours and helping balance the grid. This network strengthens grid stability – a critical foundation for scaling AI data centres and other energy‑intensive industries.

As AI drives unprecedented demand for power and data centre capacity, the bottleneck is no longer chips – it is energy, grid infrastructure, and the ability to deliver new capacity at speed.

We are looking for a Data Center Development Lead to help solve that problem. You will be responsible for taking data centre projects from concept through to Ready‑to‑Build and energisation. You will own the technical and development work streams required to transform a site from an opportunity into a deliverable project. You will work across site selection, power strategy, grid connections, planning, engineering, design development, permitting, utility engagement, and delivery readiness.

This is a highly technical role for someone who understands both infrastructure development and engineering. You will help build the infrastructure that enables the next generation of AI.

Responsibilities
  • Lead data centre developments from early‑stage opportunity through Ready‑to‑Build and energisation
  • Assess sites from technical, planning, power, and infrastructure perspectives
  • Develop grid connection and power strategies with National Grid, DNOs, and utility providers
  • Support planning, permitting, and stakeholder engagement processes
  • Identify and mitigate technical and development risks
  • Ensure projects are deliverable, scalable, and aligned with construction requirements
Qualifications
  • Experience developing data centres or large‑scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong technical understanding of data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling, and utility systems, with the ability to evaluate engineering decisions and challenge technical assumptions
  • Strong understanding of ERCOT planning and grid connection processes
  • Experience taking projects from early‑stage development through design, permitting, and delivery readiness
  • Highly analytical, self‑directed, and comfortable with significant ownership
Benefits
  • Competitive salary
  • Biannual bonus scheme
  • Fully expensed tech to match your needs
  • Breakfast and dinner allowance for office based employees
