Met Techs play a crucial role in monitoring atmospheric conditions to support forecasting, aviation, agriculture, and public safety. Their work ensures accurate and timely weather information for decision-making in various sectors.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Met Tech?

To thrive as a Met Tech (Metrology Technician), you need a solid understanding of measurement science, mathematics, and precision instrumentation, often supported by an associate degree or technical certification in metrology or a related field. Familiarity with calibration equipment, measurement standards, and software such as GAGEtrak or LabView is typically required. Working across various environments—like laboratories or manufacturing floors—can require adapting to different safety protocols and instrument types. Collaboration with engineers and quality control teams is often essential to resolve complex issues quickly and ensure compliance with industry standards. Staying current with evolving calibration procedures and documentation requirements is also key to success in this role.
