Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what's next.
Messaging is one of the most direct ways we speak to our members: from building excitement around new offerings like podcasts or games, to helping someone recover their account. Our messages span the entire member lifecycle across push, email, SMS, and in-app channels, reaching hundreds of millions of members worldwide. The Messaging PM team is responsible for innovating on these capabilities, working closely with internal customers and stakeholders to leverage messaging effectively in a variety of product use cases.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Product Manager to lead the Messaging Enablement Platform (MEP). In this role, you will define and drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the tools, workflows, and platform capabilities that empower internal teams across Netflix to create, manage, and optimize messages that delight our members.
At its core, MEP is about building the technology backbone that enables a diverse set of internal stakeholders, from content and marketing teams to product and engineering, to leverage Netflix's messaging capabilities at scale, with the right guardrails and the right level of self-serve flexibility. You will be the connective tissue between the teams that rely on this platform and the engineering team that builds it.
You will develop a deep understanding of what each internal team needs, synthesize those inputs into a coherent platform strategy, and translate that strategy into a prioritized roadmap that reflects the highest-leverage opportunities across all stakeholders. You will lead a cross-functional team of stunning colleagues across engineering, design, and data science, and collaborate with other enablement teams across Netflix to identify and build on common foundations.
Location
This role is based in our Los Gatos office (preferred) in a hybrid model, but we are open to remote candidates on the West Coast, with some travel to Los Gatos and Los Angeles required.
What We Offer
As a PM at Netflix, you will:
  • Make a meaningful contribution: We're looking for experienced product leaders who are strategic and eager to roll up their sleeves.
  • Take on big responsibility: Netflix offers PMs autonomy and substantial scope.
  • Be expected to learn every day and to enjoy being curious: You will be building capabilities that don't yet exist. You will work with stunning colleagues who value collaboration and from whom you can learn.
  • Contribute to and benefit from an environment where you can grow your career: Many of our top execs started out as individual contributors.

Who Will Be Successful in This Role?
  • Stakeholder-first mindset & partnership: Genuinely curious about what internal teams need and why. Skilled at listening deeply, asking the right questions, and synthesizing diverse, sometimes competing, perspectives into a coherent point of view. Creates a collaborative dynamic where internal customers feel heard, understand tradeoffs, and are invested in shared outcomes. Builds an equally tight, trust-based relationship with the engineering team that builds MEP.
  • Visionary & systems thinker: Able to take a wide range of stakeholder inputs and translate them into a clear, well-reasoned vision, strategy, and prioritized roadmap. Makes the hard calls on what to build and what to defer, and provides clarity even when the path forward is ambiguous. Comfortable with complex, interconnected systems; adept at identifying the highest-leverage opportunities and designing scalable, flexible solutions that serve multiple use cases.
  • Communication & influence: Demonstrates clear, direct, and adaptable written and verbal communication. Able to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences, communicate both high-level vision and detailed requirements, and align cross-functional partners around shared goals.
  • Technical acumen & AI-first mindset: Possesses a strong technical background with the ability to engage in productive debate with both technical and non-technical partners. Actively leverages AI tools for rapid prototyping and workflow acceleration, bringing a practical, hands-on orientation to AI as a tool to use every day.
  • Tools & enablement experience: Brings significant experience building tools that empower internal customers to deliver outstanding consumer experiences. Understands the unique challenge of building for internal users who have a consumer-facing objective. Experience in the consumer messaging or notifications domain is a strong plus; familiarity with how messaging systems work at scale will accelerate impact in this role.
  • Bias toward action & growth mindset: Independently and effectively rallies cross-functional teams and drives projects forward with speed. Not afraid to roll up their sleeves, remove roadblocks, and tackle challenges head-on. Eager to learn, seek feedback, and continuously improve. When mistakes happen, shares learnings openly so the whole team benefits.

Skills and Experience
  • 8+ years of experience building products with an internal enablement or platform focus, with a proven record of prioritizing and successfully launching impactful capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience building scalable tools and platform capabilities that serve a diverse set of internal stakeholders with a consumer-facing objective. Experience in the end-to-end messaging platform experience domain is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to synthesize broad stakeholder input into a coherent strategy and communicate prioritization decisions clearly and credibly.
  • Strong track record of building collaborative, trust-based relationships with both internal customers and engineering teams.
  • Expertise in developing vision, strategy, and roadmap for a cross-functional space, incorporating broader business context.
  • Experienced in turning clear thinking into well-crafted documents across the product lifecycle: strategy memos, PRDs, and stakeholder communications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to a wide range of audiences including senior leadership.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to connect day-to-day work to big-picture goals.
  • Experience with A/A and A/B testing.

We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds will lead to a better environment for our employees and better products for our customers.
Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
