Job Description Summary

Municipal Emergency Services (MES) is looking for a service technician to travel (in a company van) to various Fire Departments in the region to perform testing and maintenance on Rescue Tools, Hydraulic Rescue Tools, etc. We will get you trained and certified.


This is a full-time position with full benefits and the potential to earn significant commissions.


MES is the Nation's largest suppliers of Rescue Tools, personal protective equipment, law enforcement products, and services to the first responder market.


Territory: Entire state of Colorado


Travel: travel is expected to be about 90-100% within the assigned territory. (Service Technicians must be willing to travel and stay overnight at hotels for remote or large jobs)


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Equipment Inspection: Perform routine inspections and functional checks of equipment to verify their readiness and compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on related equipment, replacing worn or damaged components to ensure proper functionality.
  • Testing: Conduct tests on units, such as pressure tests, airflow tests, and leak tests, to verify that they meet or exceed manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all inspection, maintenance, and repair activities, including equipment condition, parts replaced, and testing results.
  • Calibration: Calibrate and adjust equipment to ensure accurate readings and safe operation.
  • Inventory Management: Manage spare parts and replacement components inventory, ensuring adequate stock for repairs and maintenance.
  • Customer Service: Interact with customers and end-users, addressing their concerns and assisting with equipment-related issues.



Requirements

General Job Requirements:

  • Attention to detail is critical, this is life-saving essential equipment for Firefighters
  • Work remotely and maintain a valid driver's license (REAL-ID is required to work in Federal sites
  • Good computer skills are essential
  • Service Technicians must be willing to travel and stay overnight at hotels for remote or large jobs
  • Be mechanically inclined
  • Ability to lift items, packages, and containers weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma/GED

Position Experience Requirements:

  • Fire and Rescue Special Operations experience of 5+ years. 

Sales & Business Development Experience Requirements:

  • Determine sales potential for new and existing customers through inquiry, observation, and periodic research. 
  • Prepare and conduct sales presentations of extrication tools for new and existing customers. 
  • Determine customer requirements and expectations to recommend appropriate products. 
  • Increase business and expand the account base by identifying and qualifying new business opportunities through cross-selling and up-selling techniques. 
  • Learn and apply new product knowledge to enhance sales effectiveness and professionalism

Customer Service & Relationship Management Experience Requirements:

  • Maintain and improve customer relationships and overall customer satisfaction. 
  • Identify trends in customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction. 
  • Assist clients with special requests and resolve customer concerns or complaints. 
  • Provide exceptional service to end users when repair needs arise. 

Equipment Service & Maintenance Experience Requirements:

  • Perform annual preventive maintenance on customer tools. 
  • Perform light service and preventative maintenance on Genesis extrication tools. 

Inventory & Operations Experience Requirements:

  • Assist with scheduled physical inventory counts. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Industry Knowledge & Professional Development Experience Requirements:

  • Remain current with changes in local codes and consumer preferences. 
  • Stay up to date on product and industry knowledge by attending sales meetings, vendor training, trade shows, and reviewing trade publications. 
  • Participate in trade association functions. 
  • Be an active participant in local industry organizations. 

Professionalism & Compliance Experience Requirements:

  • Follow company policies and procedures. 
  • Practice honesty and integrity in all customer and vendor relationships. 
  • Maintain the technical and computer skills necessary to effectively use contact management, distribution, and office software. 
  • Present a professional image at all times when interacting with customers and vendors.

Experience in servicing and maintaining the following is strongly preferred:

  • Small engine repair
  • Firefighting equipment
  • Hydraulics
  • Vehicles

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)


Experience Overview:

  • Mechanical knowledge: 3 years (Strongly Preferred)
  • Field Service Technician: 3 years (Strongly Preferred)
  • Fire and Rescue Experience: 5 years (Required)


License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)
  • REAL-ID is required to work in Federal sites


Physical Requirements:

  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift and carry equipment (up to 60 lbs.) are required.
